★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Incredibly dismissive and rude. Did not entertain the possibility of symptoms going unreported in my early years, nor the impact of current symptoms impacting my life at present. He took a cursory glance at my early elementary report cards and determined that there was no evidence of ADD in my formative years, and as such that my present symptoms were caused by something else. I expected more from a specialist than to rely on untrained teachers to document evidence of neurodivergence. Further, he did not accept the possibility that symptoms could have been overlooked due to other, more obviously troubled children in the class, or masked by learned coping strategies. My personal opinion is that he subscribes to an outdated mode of diagnosis which fails to account for the possibility of incorrect or undocumented symptoms in childhood. I will be seeking a second opinion, and I strongly suggest anyone who has been denied a diagnosis on the same basis do the same.
