Cuba's Restaurant

Very disappointed in my experience here. Right from the beginning we did not feel welcome. Instead of a smile to greet us it was a scowl and "you're early". Two of us had come a half hour early early because we we were hosting a large party of 12 and wanted to be there as people arrived. We were led to believe that there was going to be live music, entertainment and dancing. When we got there the restaurant was tiny and there was a small space at the front for one person and an instrument. As for dancing, there was no room. There was a sign on the wall that said 1.5 hours limit. Nothing was said about this when we reserved for 2 hours. The food was mediocre at best. I did not finish my seafood pasta and did not ask to take the rest home. Apparently though the pork was good but the chicken was dry. The crowning insult was the already added on 20% gratuity. The waitress didn't even come by to ask how our meals were. Our small water jug for the table was not refilled once and we weren't asked if we wanted any dessert. I did not see our waitress smile once. I can't even blame her surliness on being too busy because there were plenty of empty tables. The consensus of all 12 of us is that we would never go back. Very very disappointing. Edit: After reading some of the responses from the owner to the poor reviews I am appalled. She gets downright insulting in some of them. I think on the basis of that alone I wouldn't want to frequent this place. Edit number 2: it's interesting to note that 2 others from my party ( which was multi racial incidentally) posted negative reviews too. It really was an appalling experience and to be accused of racism by the owner when there was no such thing is beyond insulting. I guess our displeasure with the service and the food was interpreted as "racism". Too funny to pull that card instead of apologizing to the customer for a bad experience. I'm really surprised these guys are still in business.

Chicken fricase dinner was delicious. Awesome night. Excellent service. Nice waitstaff helpful. We enjoyed live music and we danced. Fun evening.

Absolutely delicious food. Ropa vieja beef dish . We enjoyed our experience. Service was excellent and friendly. Staff are super friendly. We highly recommend this place.

Ambience and food were good. Service needs major improvement. My party of 4 arrived at 7pm and didn't get our dinner until 8:35. Now, I usually tip between 10 to 15% but paying 20% for slow service! With only 1 cook and 1 server, how can you offer 5 star service! Sorry, but I won't be returning.

We went for dinner on Friday. The food was delicious, the hostess friendly and the ambience warm yet funky.. The musician was brilliant. Super talented. What stood out about Alexis Martinez was that he was a performer through and through. He was funny, talented, versatile and even took an impromptu Salsa Class for us. We had a great night out. Cuba's Restaurant is having to relocate after 10 years as the location is being converted to Condos. Hopefully they find a new space soon. Wishing them the very best!!

Our dining experience was OK but not remarkable. I didn't find our server particularly friendly or attentive (and she got our order wrong). Food was tasty, but I think a bit overpriced. For $21, the fries with the cuban sandwich should be fresh not generic frozen fries.

If you have been to Cuba but never eaten outside a resort, you have never tried real Cuban food. This place serves authentic Cuban food, full of flavours and spices. We had tostones rellenos with pork (green deep fried plantains stuffed with pork roast) and deep fried cassava for appetizers. Our mains were ropa vieja (shredded beef with tomato sauce), rice and beans and ripe deep fried plantains and a Cuban sandwich with plantain chips. The food was extraorfinary. You have to try also a salsa the owner makes which is out of this world. Service was friendly and fast. We loved it and we are coming back. Thank you for the food!!!

My wife and I had two delicious dishes. Roast pork is amazing flavor. Service was excellent and we enjoyed our experience. Felt like cuba. The portions were large. We took some home. Next day was even better.
