I doubt in general that people enjoy dealing with collections, however, there is a way to deal with clients who owe money. This company is by far the worst of the worst. Threats like no other, intimidating language, terrible communication skills. Absolutely not willing to make arrangements with you. I was actually told that I was lucky that Covid is affecting things right now, otherwise I would be in court. I’ve been paying my credit card religiously and not in small increments and god forbid you hit 29 days, they will call and intimidate you further. I’d be surprised if the person on the other line knew how to smile. You are calling people who have clearly been through a tough time. A little compassion goes a long way.

August 20, 2021 Dear honorable judge I Compagnon am writing a response to the claim against me in your small claims court. I do take full responsibility for the debt I have accumulated with the Canadian Tire Credit Card. I have never had any intention to not pay or run away from it. My credit was excellent before this pandemic began. I was paying my debts faithfully. I hold a mortgage and line of credit. Three times during this pandemic I was ordered to stop work. I was not allowed to cut hair. I was not allowed to clean my client’s houses which are my income for more than 20 years. While my mortgage granted me payment deferrals and my bank at CIBC became content with my payments, Canadian tire credit card was not so patient, Their demand was all at once or legal action. I was only back to work 1 week when the threatening call came. So far I have paid $2300.00 to bring down this account to zero. Payments started as follows, July 23, $800, July 30, $500, August 5th, $500, August 18th, $500. I am receiving emails from credit karma that say β€œGood job Mrs Compagnon you are catching up with your payments keep up the good work” My employment and my husband’s employment are getting back to normal. I firmly believe this Canadian Tire debt will be paid off before it even becomes heard in your court. I feel it is grossly unfair for a credit card provider to take this kind of action to me as a client where government has forced us to stop working. What I find unfair are the added legal fees on top of the debt already owing as this is a credit card lender not a private loan and the company has hired a third party legal team in a small claims court while other credit cards use collections agencies. Please note this credit card is still active and accruing interest while I am making the payments at the cashiers by inserting the card in their POS terminals. I do not understand what kind of entity goes to court with a credit card account not closed. My plea to you your honor is to allow me to show you that I have paid my credit card in full before you make judgment and deny this legal team from making a fast dollar on a normal working person whom received this legal action after already paying $1800.00 to the debt that is rapidly declining as each week passes. I worked with Amanda Clarkson for a Canadian Tire credit card that was overdue for a few years ( due to some unfortunate times in my life . Now I'm slowly getting back on track . ) I can honestly say that Amanda is a great human being . I see others as per the reviews below have had issues working with her , however , for me , working with her was an incredible experience . I was able to pay my loan off in full based on what I was able to afford based on my circumstances thanks to Amanda . And now that debt is complete for me . Thank you Amanda for all of your help . I don't know where to begin with these shysters. They lie and operate beyond any semblance of ethics. Despite having made payment arrangements with them for an account that was delinquent, they chose to ignore the existing payment arrangement and proceed directly to court. Working in an industry that was severely decimated by the COVID pandemic, I along with thousands of others was laid off and unable to continue with the payment arrangements. Despite calling and speaking to a most disagreeable sow by the name.of Kari Turnbull (or as she prefers - likely to appeal to her massive ego "Mrs. Turnbull), the previously agreed upon payment arrangements were suddenly not acceptable. In addition, she claimed to have no knowledge of the payment arrangement....it's a good thing that I record all calls with these people - I have 3 seperate conversations that were recorded where she agreed to the payment schedule. Bottom line - despite the fact they haven't been formally disciplined by the regulatory body, they behave and act with the ethics of a third world dictator. If you get stuck dealing with these people, record your calls, do not give them any information about where you are working and be sure that get all responses in writing. I'm sure if these crooks could get away with ordering legs to be broken, they would. You really have to wonder what kind of person gets up in the morning and feels good about going to work and browbeating people for a living. Don't trust these people at all. They will lie, deceive and screw people over any way that they can. Get legal advice if you have to and whatever you do....don't capitulate to their demands. They are liars and will manipulate anyone that they think they can.

I worked with some J Newport lady... she claims shes been working at this place for 40 years but im having to explain to her how ive alrdy paid this debt off years ago and i have the recite in my hand... she says i should pay them anyways and try to get a refund from where i paid the loan directly. I had to argue with this lady to be able to send her an email with the recite all she wanted was for me to fax.. who still uses fax these days? At the end of the transaction i requested that she would email me just stating what has taken place today so i dont need to call back in. refused to send any sort of acknowledgement via email. said its up to me to protect the letter shes sending me that its like gold and goes on trying to give me life advice... end result very unprofessional from start to end

I worked hard at paying off the balances of my 2 cards. When Covid hit, I fell behind on payments. I knew I was still obligated to make the payments and managed to pay them both off regardless of the harassment and bullying received from this company. I don’t care to get into the bullying or harassing, but what is most frustrating is when you are told β€œ IF YOU CAN PAY THESE BALANCES I CAN HAVE A LETTER FOR EACH ONE SENT TO YOU AND I CAN HAVE CANADIAN TIRE UPDATE YOUR CREDIT REPORT AS PAID”. This was July, 2021. It’s been almost a YEAR and I’ve sent emails asking when I can expect this to be done. To this day, April 6th, 2022, I have not received a reply, nor has my credit report been updated. This has a HUGE impact on my credit score and it’s become very frustrating. I thought I’d be kind and not post the details of the individuals information on Google.

Called me 1240pm. The guy states my name n account. I said yes it's me but just got bad news my daughters heart is in danger because of chemo. She just had mastectomy at 28yrs old. The guy says whatever and hangs up. Are u kidding me??

Called me multiple times leaving a message asking for someone I've never heard of. Not a big deal, it happens. I've patiently called back and explained it each time. What should NOT happen, though, is one of your employees (Cathy) getting aggressive and confrontational after I got yet another call today and was explaining it again cordially - especially considering it's probably the 3rd time I've spoken to her in the past 2 months to explain YOUR mixup. If this is how rude your employees are to people taking time to help you clear things up when YOU are making a mistake, I'd hate to see your etiquette towards people owing a debt. Welcome to the blocked number list.
