Small portions of food. Drinks were priced more than we were told. Dirty bathrooms and the Dj was terrible. Basically ruined the entire evening. When asked to change the style of music and requests songs, Dj did not follow directions. Feel very disappointed with how my wedding reception turned out. Would never recommend this place to anyone.

We had our wedding social here on the Thursday before good friday and had a wonderful experience with The Copa. From our first meeting to payment everything went smoothly. They do everything for you, food, bartenders, alcohol, bouncers, cleanup at the end of the night and even the dj (also amazing!). It was as stress-free as planning a social can be. Extremely friendly and answered my questions quickly via email. We highly recommend having your social or event here. We didn't have a lot of time to do much eating but everyone was raving about how delicious the meatballs and scalloped potatoes were (we chose the northender). If we had to do it all over again we would pick them and you should too! You won't regret it!

I wanted to share our experience with our social vendor as although our guests had a great time; behind the scenes it was a stressful night that had me in tears. On September 20th my FH and I had our social at the Copa on north main. Up until a month or so before the social, they were great. Then the tone changed drastically to answering questions from us was an inconvenience to them (mind you I did not bother them unless I really needed too) Set up: you’re only allowed 2 hours on an evening before the social to set up. As our was on Friday; we set up on the Thursday evening. Ok fine we got most of what we needed accomplished within that time. As we chose to use our own DJ (which they were not happy about) he was only allowed to come set up his equipment Friday evening at 7:15 pm and not a minute earlier (our social started at 8 pm) and actually had a rush of people at 8 show up. Originally the silent auction tickets were going to be sold in the back by the prizes but that day (yes I know it was last minute), I asked if we could switch it to the front bc most people expect the silent auction to be sold at the table when they come in. The owner got mad at me and yelled at me demanding to know why I changed my mind. That it was an inconvenience for him to get a bigger table bc my DJ already needed a bigger table for his equipment. (He tried to give the DJ a tiny table that maybe sits two people for all his DJ equipment). He told me that I was being an inconvenience (despite us paying them good money for this venue). He proceeded to walk back and forth swearing and complaining about us (in-front of our older children) to the point where our son was ready to say something to him. My evening that was suppose to be fun and filled with happiness instead started in tears. Then because the social prizes were in the back (bc they’re always in the back apparently) my dad asked if the back door that leads right from our prizes to the back lane of the venue would be blocked or chained. The male owner proceeded to tell my dad disrespectfully β€œdon’t worry about it, it’s my venue and my staff will worry about it”. My dad is the kindest man ever and it hurts me that he was talked down to in such a way. Now onto our DJ; staff we’re calling him names, being disrespectful and outright rude. I am appalled that this is how they treat other vendors that come into their building. Our DJ wasn’t rude and was there to work for us and make us happy. (Which he did despite his horrible experience in how he was treated all night) we had a light show which I think is pretty typical of a social; he was yelled at for needing the front lights turned off ??‍♀️. He was also being an inconvenience to them apparently. They were able upset as we had a photo booth (which I provided ample time to remind them that we would have one) yelling at the DJ saying he’s taking up too much room. (If anyone has seen a photobooth it really does not). We ordered their food (which was fine, people liked the food) BUT paying over $1,000 for food and what they give your guests are tiny little plates. Food was falling on the floor and getting stepped on because the plates were so tiny. I wish I would have taken a picture of them. We’re glad our guests had a great time but behind the scenes it was absolute hell. We signed a contract for a wedding in 2021, after our experience we agreed we cannot get married there. We don’t want our special day to be poisoned by their lack of professionalism, however if we want out of our contract for January 2021; we have to pay them $2,700.00. If you’ve had great experiences there, awesome I’m glad for that but I feel like I need to voice the other side of things to give brides and grooms a heads up. Oh and if you’re having cash bar, let your guests know they also have to pay for their pop (we did not know this) and despite it being a requirement with the Manitoba liquor commission they do not have a DD program.

We did a benefit social for my father here - they were so helpful from the initial interaction right up until the end. It was minimal stress as they take care of just about everything. We didn't have to worry about the food or alcohol as they take care of that. Overall I highly recommend The Copa for your social function!
