"Cook's Church.- Originated with the Scottish settlers. In 1863 a Presbyterian minister began services on alternate Sundays in Sutherland's schoolhouse. At that time the group of families of Presbyterian connection who came to worship was spoken of as Caradoc Presbyterian Station. A new church was built in 1867, named Cook's in honour of a Presbyterian minister in Ireland. Here they worshipped for forty years. The present church was built in 1907. In 1925 it became Cook's United Church. In 1891 they held the first Garden Party, attended by hundreds for miles around. In 1896 special trains stopped at the crossing on the twelfth sideroad, bringing people from London and Strathroy. This was a highlight for many years, as entertainment, attraction and financial assistance." found at the Mount Brydges village website by google searching mount brydges history. I wonder if they still have garden parties?!
