About Como Lake Resort

The area is homeland to the Ojibwa and Cree people of Northern Ontario, where they would not only hunt and fish, but had a rich culture and relationship with the landscape. With the introduction of both the Canadian Pacific and Canadian National Railways in the early 20th century, it was not long before the exploitation of prospecting, hunting, and logging resulted in the depletion of wildlife. William McLeod from Chapleau, ON, brought this to the government’s attention, and on May 27, 1925, the Chapleau Crown Game Preserve was established.

Special permission is require in advanced to travel with fire arm on the game reserve. We are are more than happy to help you with this process.

This place is a true hidden treasure. Me and my girlfriend were planing to stay there for one night but decided to stay a second one just after arriving. It's a beautiful place with very kind and welcoming owner - and it's great for fishing (and yes, there is everything you need when camping).

I made 2 trips to Como lake last summer. John and Tracy are really good hosts, they make you feel right at home. Looking forward to my return trip this summer. And the fishing was great.

Very nice campsite with super friendly owners. Although we got there by chance and the campsite was fully booked, John and Tracy made everything possible to find a place for us. The children were allowed to use their grandchildren's bicycles, my wife got a coffee with Rum Chata :-) and John went fishing with us on the lake. So everybody was happy and we really felt like home !! If I'm going to Canada again, I'll definitely schedule a stop at John and Tracy's Thanks again for your hospitality Raimund, Kati, Emma & Moritz

My other half and I had a great time exploring this beautiful resort and beyond. It's very remote but wouldn't have it any other way. John and Tracy are excellent owners, very helpful and made you feel so welcome. They have been working very hard on upgrading the cabins and ground area and it looks great! We went to this resort to see wildlife and ride our ATV. I saw a lot of wild life and a big male moose for the first time, it was amazing. We are going back in July and I can hardly wait! loved it there! Nancy and Randy

Stayed here for a night with a couple of buddies on a motorcycle trip. Normally you would have to rent for a week but they had a cabin open and allowed us to stay. Probably one of our best stops on our trip. Loved staying in a traditional cabin (with plumbing). Lake was beautiful and the owners were great hosts. Wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.

We had the most peaceful enjoyable stay at Como Lake and enjoyed the hospitality of John and Tracy. Our first night on the water we hit large walleye and had fresh fish every day of our stay. Early mornings, with loons calling, fog on the water, and the feeling of having this gorgeous wilderness to yourself was the perfect get away. John also guided us on two very exciting fishing nights where we caught exactly what we set out to catch (walleye, bass and pike). I look forward to returning to enjoy this perfectly serene and rustic place.

Pristine wilderness! The owners, Tracey and Jean, were some of the nicest and hardest working people I’ve met. They work constantly to ensure that everyone is comfortable and they treat you as if you are truly their guests. There is wifi available near the lodge and the campsites are spacious with comfortable and clean public showers/bathrooms. Laundry is available by request. The kayaking is beautiful and the view from the dock is stunning. The cabins are right on the water (we had a cabin and a campsite) and they are clean, comfortable and well equipped. There is no cell service or civilization for many miles, so be prepared because this is a true off the grid wilderness escape.
