About Coconut Island Thai Cuisine

Thai cuisine is the national cuisine of Thailand. Balance, detail, and variety are of paramount significance to Thai chefs. Thai cooking places emphasis on lightly prepared dishes with strong aromatic components and a spicy edge. It is known for its complex interplay of at least three to five fundamental taste senses in each dish or the overall meal: sour, sweet, salty, bitter, and spicy. Thai food demonstrates ”intricacy; attention to detail; texture; colour; taste; and the use of ingredients with medicinal benefits, as well as good flavour", as well as care being given to the food's appearance, smell and context.

Coconut Island is a small island in the south-west area of Thailand. Its beauty is unrivalled and as a result, is a host to many resorts and tourists from all over the world. Because of its global nature, the chefs are influenced by Thai recipes throughout Thailand, but enjoy the specific use of coconuts in their recipes that are so abundant in this area.

We hope you will enjoy the symphony of flavours and dishes that we are so proud to make fresh for you with passion, each day.

A very good Thai experience. Located in a stripmall, the average looking restaurant does not reflect what is inside. There is parking on the street in front, parking behind the restaurant and side streets. We had no issues finding parking. The inside is simple and nice. Some lovely images on the walls. We got seated near the door and there was a cold draft that was the only downside of the evening. We had some summer rolls, a medium tom ka soup that was enough for two. The two main dishes we had tasted phenomenal and not greasy. They customized the spiciness for us, the got it exactly right, tangy but still edible. Decent portions and reasonable prices. Really enjoyed the food. I would recommend and will be going back.

What a great place for some of the best Thai food in the city. The Coconut Shrimp to start with was amazing, crispy, lots of coconut and the shrimp was large as well. The Green Curry (medium) was so fresh, great spice, amazing flavours and with the steam coconut rice, it's a match made in Heaven. I know we are only just getting back out into the world, but if you live in Winnipeg, this is one of those places you all should be supporting. A great family runs the place and works extremely hard from what i can see. I am so glad to have found this place and will be back again when I am in town in a couple weeks!

I have been to many of the top places in the city for Thai food because my wife loves it. Me not so much but I don't hate it. Checked out Google reviews on different places and this one seemed to stick out so we checked it out. Again completely on the opposite side of the city when we normally go to Magic Thai which is not bad at all. The restaurant was very clean and inviting. The staff were very friendly. We ordered the Red Curry Soup, Soft Egg Noodle, and Pad Eggplant. All the food we ordered had so much flavor. More flavor then we have ever had at any Thai restaurant in the city. I'm not a huge fan of Thai buy I would definitely keep going now if the food always tasted like this. The only thing that caught me off guard is that most Thai places give you free steamed rice with your Red Curry Soup but this place didn't. Not a big deal because the food made up for it. You can ask for no MSG and the food wasn't really greasy like other places. Highly recommended if you have never tried this place. 2nd visit and i was still very impressed with the food. I also added some pictures of what we ate.

Awesome place for thai food! I tried both dinner and lunch. I prefer dinner. Lunch menu was little too expensive and not worth to try for me. I would rather have more dinner dishes with that price. Dinner was awesome! My favourite noodle pat-see-u was perfect, coconut prawn and papaya salad were delicious, curry was good too. I would go back for dinner for sure!

The food is delicious but be careful they can turn up the heat. Always order one heat level under what you would think you'd like for the first time. A medium heat is would be compared to a level 6-7 hot wing.

Just have to give 5/5. Menu options are robust. Taste is excellent. Prices are fine. In my opinion, this is a must go-to restaurant! Have been impressed every single time.
