Cobourg Tax and Accounting

My husband and I cannot praise Cobourg Tax and Accounting enough. We started going here two years ago and are never looking back. Tax season is not our favourite season but Mike makes the entire process pain-free. He is super attentive, knowledgeable and friendly. I would not hesitate recommending Cobourg Tax and Accounting to anyone I know.

We have been dealing with Mike and his group for several years now. When I say we, I mean our family of 5. Mike is very passionate about the work he does and really goes to bat for his clients. Meaning that he knows his business so well that he actually has been able to help us appreciate tax credit availability. Furthermore Mike is very relational and this is what’s best as I really feel like we have a relationship and we are not just his customer... thx Mike... we really appreciate you and your group at Cobourg Tax & Accounting. This business doesn't even deserve a 1 star. What a horrible experience right from the beginning. The son was the only one that seemed to be the most pleasant during this whole ordeal. When we dropped off our income tax papers to be completed and filed we were greeted with the wife of the business, not very friendly, rather rude and blunt about our filing. We were told that Mike, the husband, would be completing our taxes. After a week or so we called to see if they had been completed only to have the son, who spoke to me on the phone, give us the breakdown of the results of our returns. I asked to speak to Mike to verify a couple of things before we made the trip to pick them up. He too was a bit arrogant but considering it to be tax season things can be a bit stressful. When it came time to pick up our taxes and settle up what was owing we went into their office, paying attention not to step off the mat as it was indicated on a big sign on the desk and was greeted by the son who was proceeding to collect the charge and give us our copies of the taxes that had been done. We asked can we speak to Mike. The son went into his office to relay the message and out comes Mike. He was not at all friendly, didn't look up at us or greet us in any professional manner, his long greasy black hair hanging all over his face all the while he kept trying to brush his bushy mane back out of his face. We asked him a question regarding our return and he proceeded to tell me that he had told me 11 times about what we had been trying get his feedback on. I asked him did you actually count the number of times and he told me I was very frustrating to him. I told him I thought he was rude and then he said he would settle this and went over to the far end of the counter, took out our tax papers, brought them over the the front of the desk where we were standing and slammed them down so hard that he almost hit me with them. He then proceeded to pull at his black mane of hair and strutted back and forth across the side of the front desk as if he was having a breakdown all because of a small question we were trying to understand due to his lack of communication with us. He kept pulling at his hair and holding his head and then he demanded that we leave, almost getting down on his knees begging us to leave. We tried to reason with him and asked him just to let us settle what we owed and for him to just file our taxes and never mind that what we had been asking him about suggesting it wasn't important but he just kept storming up and down in front of the desk holding his head like a madman. The poor son just stood there not even daring to move or speak. We left and made a short comment on our way out. This man should be very embarrased of how he reacted to a simple tax question in front of new clients who had never been in his office before this day, who made ONE phone call during the time our taxes were being done asking him to clarify only one question before filing our taxes. He definitely needs to consider Professional help if this is how he reacts to a simple tax questions that's important to the client for tax purposes. We intend to report him to BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU for his unprofessionalism and his actions towards us.

Mike is always efficiently answering any and all my questions. He is always polite and friendly, and never makes me feel ignorant (which I often do when it comes to taxes). I refer Mike to all my friends and family, each who are very happy to have taken my suggestion. He makes the entire process easy and simple to understand. I am thankful to have his support to keep the stresses of tax time away!!

This company is Amazing! We've been using Turbo Tax and another tax professional for our business and personal tax for years, but something about our returns was off. Went to see Mike at Cobourg Tax and Accounting, took one look at our taxes and identified the problems right away. Smart guy, great response time, email and phone friendly. Plus he's a family guy, what more can I say. Worth every penny.

My mother highly recommends her accountant Mike Depuis to deal with any tax issues. He worked with me on my taxes, as Mike also helped one of my moms co-workers, the man was totally efficient, took me in right away, solved all my issues on the same day.

I reached out to Mike this year for his help on a very complicated and long overdue tax situation. From the start, Mike has been incredibly friendly and nothing but helpful. He has taken the time to walk me through all the different options on the table, and was able to point me in the right direction for what information I needed to gather next. When he gave his advice and prepared the returns, I definitely felt that Mike was looking out for my best interests.
