I’m a new welder (as in… this is my first project!) and this has been a really fun project to practice my welds plus make a major upgrade to my truck. The kit came quickly, the instructions were clear and the metal was high quality. No complaints from me! PS. Plastic 3rd gen Tacoma bumpers are the worst. Why put such junk on a pickup that is marketed as a rugged off-road vehicle?

That being said.. coastal off roads product is probably the best kit on the market as far as material quality and durability. The rear bumper for my 2013 Xterra looks amazing and also provided much more ground clearance then the factory bumper did. Shout out specifically to Brandon.. he was super great to work with and was on the ball about making sure replacement parts were sent my way when I had a couple issues. Would buy for you guys again, keep up the good work!
J	John Houston on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I just got my bumper installed, back from powdercoating. Overall, this process was fun and I saved a good bit of money over a pre-fab. I was able to buy a welder and a kit bumper for less than a finished bumper, learn along the way, and end up with a welder. As others have mentioned, the pieces puzzle together perfectly. I only needed to bevel a few edges, which was great. No prep needed on the metal, ready to weld. The instructions were pretty good, I definitely recommend labeling all the pieces with a paint pen as they recommend, it makes hunting for the next piece much faster. Shipping was fast and cheap. I am happy with the end product. There are a few small negatives that warrant the 4 stars. First was the hole spacing on my skid plate mounts (to the OEM tow hooks) was wrong. I had to drill the skid plate wider. Second was the bolt size for the tow hooks, the ones they listed were undersized for the holes. Lastly, my truck came with the oem plastic one piece bumper (sport). I had to trim quite a bit of bumper mounts and plastic away for my bumper to clear with pod lights mounted. I would have needed some very shallow pod lights to not cut anything. Maybe the 2-piece bumper rams are different than the 1-piece bumper rams, but overall these minor inconveniences weren't too much. I learned a lot, I'm happy with the result, and it is definitely the highest clearance bumper for this truck. I'd be happy to confirm my measurements on the tow hooks if Coastal wants to check their CAD!

Their material and cuts make welding a breeze with no prep work. Shipping is fast and easy. No need to wait on lead times for pre made bumpers. Their detailed instructions make it easy for even a beginner welder to build their own armor. I have over 10 years of welding and fabrication experience and these guys make a top notch quality kit! Keep up the good work coastal off-road!

I am pleased to say I was right. The bumper came out great. The precision of the cuts made tacking it a piece of cake and all the external seam welds get ground smooth anyway, so it was a great place to work on his technique. I highly recommend this project for a great bumper as well as a great learning experience.
