Took my cheap guitar (I call it my travel guitar) to Dan, took it from unplayable to great, even sounds better too. New nut bridge and saddle work, flawless job, so happy, good guy to work with, very happy would recommend him to anyone.

Brought my meager squier telecaster in for some electronic upgrades and a set up. At first my budget, off-shore built guitar felt inferior to the beautiful custom guitars that Dan has in his humble home luthier shop. (It still does feel inferior, his custom work is exquisite) but when I came to pick it up after the work was done (in a very timely fashion) it felt and sounded like a whole new instrument. Can't thank Cithara Guitars enough, top notch service. If you're lucky enough to own one of his guitars I envy you. If not, bring your sad excuse of an axe in and let them work their magic on it. I love that there's a local alternative to the big box long & Mcquade run of the mill stuff. I wish Dan and his staff all the best in this difficult line of work. Please support this business if you have any guitar needs, I can't recommend them enough. Pro level work with a personal touch.

Recently, the repair tech in Brantford I've used for decades finally closed up shop. With a lot invested in several guitars, and a real perfectionist streak on my part, I was concerned I would not be able to find an excellent tech or luthier without traveling all the way to Toronto. I needn't have worried. Daniel Clarke is friendly, extremely knowledgeable, and does excellent work, both as a builder of fine custom-made instruments, and as a repair person! I never felt rushed when talking with him about what I needed, and the work done exceeded expectations. Daniel let me know immediately when parts were delayed, or some other wrinkle kept things from being done exactly on time. I've had three guitars worked on, from complex wiring, to a fret dress, to some trus rod and routing issues, and everything turned out great. I have not yet bought one of Daniel's fine custom instruments, but they are an absolute bargain, at prices much lower than custom shop offerings from the large industry-dominating companies. Do yourself a favour and get him to build you a great instrument, before he is discovered by big artists and puts his prices up accordingly!

I was recommended to Cithara guitars to repair some damage to the finish of my guitar due to a drop. (?). While it was in for the repair, I decided to have a setup done as well. Upon receiving my guitar back. I was very pleased with the repair to the finish, but found several fret buzzes while playing. Daniel had me bring the guitar back in and play it for him (as I’m a fairly heavy handed player) and with a few minor adjustments, my guitar feels and sounds amazing again. I’m very pleased with the work done by Cithara Guitars and highly recommend them for any of your repair requirements.

I had bought a pretty beat up Martin d20-12 . The guys at Cithara did a great job refinishing and setting up. Great guys, nice shop!

Daniel made the experience of buying and building my first kit electric guitar phenomenal. The kit parts were great quality and the instructions were clear. He gave great and supportive advice when I asked questions. And then the set-up and fret dress have left me with a guitar I am delighted with. I hope one day I'll be able to build a guitar from scratch with him!

I recently brought my vintage 1984 MIJ Fender F-240A acoustic to Cithara for a fret dressing on the recommendation of my local guitar shop. Not only were Cithara entirely uncommunicative during the process (I had to call them to follow up on my instrument as well as to learn when it was delivered to my local), they also did not recommend alternatives (such as a partial re-fret which I think was the proper route rather than a fret dress, as only 6 or 7 frets were badly worn), and when I picked up my guitar (3 weeks later than promised) the frets were all merely 1mm in height (essentially just adding 20+ years of fret wear), with several dead spots, fret buzz on every fret on the low E, and a set-up which changed both the action and intonation drastically. Now I have to pay an additional $350 for a complete re-fret (on top of the original $350 for the fret dress), as well as perform a full set-up to correct the fret buzz, intonation, and action, something I already paid $75 for in my service. I will not bring my guitar to Cithara again, and I do not recommend anyone else do so either, unless you enjoy being fleeced. Do not bring your guitar to Cithara; they will ruin it.
