They are always throwing fun themed events to welcome the community. The facility is amazing, always bright and clean. They offer many programs thorough the day to spark creativity in all. When the time comes I know my mom will love living there.

I have felt very safe and informed throughout the whole pandemic. All of the rules and regulations that have been put in place, I feel have always been in my best interest. I would definitely recommend this residence as a place to live.

I stayed in that home for about a year and realized that I was not able to look after the property. I gave it a lot of thought, and made the decision to move into Chartwell Van Horne Retirement Residence. I was a little reluctant at first because I couldn't picture myself living this type of residence. Fortunately for me it was the best decision I ever made. This place is like a second home to me. The staff here are like my daughters. Everything you could possibly hope for is here. The staff are not like employees, they are like friends. All of your needs are looked after with a smile. I would highly recommend this residence.

Staff go above and beyond to make residents comfortable and feel like they are in their own home. They are caring, friendly and always have a smile on their face. Food is great, especially according to Fred, the soup and desserts are delicious. The social program provided is excellent. So impressed with how they have looked after our loved ones during this difficult time of Covid especially when we couldn’t visit. We always feel Fred is being well looked after and happy. He loves the staff. Thank you for all that you do!!

After 3 days in my new home I had an accident, which resulted in the need for reconstructive surgery in the local hospital. I had suffered 2 ankle fractures as well as a dislocation. I was hospitalized for a period of 2 weeks and was restricted from walking, operating my car or living at home. In a cast from the knee down, I was also restricted to a wheelchair for the entire time. As I was unable to return home, I searched on the Internet for an acceptable substitute and I was fortunate that Chartwell. Van Horne offered me a respite care facility which exceeded all of my needs. At fist I was leery about a “SENIOR’s Residence”. However, very quickly the staff treated me as a beloved family member as they do all of the residents. They work hard to remember your name, meal preferences, right down to how you take your coffee and your favourites for each meal. It was truly an amazing refreshing, loving experience. In short order your table mates became your closest friends and much laughter and gentle teasing were the hallmarks of your mealtime experience. The quality, menu variation and the quantity of foods was without compare and was consistently excellent. I have no problem recommending Chartwell Van Horne, Smiths Falls to anyone in need of respite care as I found myself. Such that I found leaving difficult and am now in the process of volunteering to serve these remarkable residents.

Decided this was the place to call home, so we were able to move in after respite was over. Warm, caring, exceptional staff, great service all around. My 96 year old almost blind and deaf is so happy here. She likes the food and company. She loves the staff. Thank you Van Horne. Everyone’s life just got so much better!
