We believe that everyone has gifts that may be realized, discovered and built upon with support. We work from a strength-based, person and community-centered approach. We look holistically at the self, striving for balance in all aspects (emotional, physical, intellectual and spiritual). We are also aware of the impacts of colonization and intergenerational trauma while recognizing resilience and wellness in our communities and cultures.
Respect for the client’s personal and cultural knowledge is at the centre of the caring relationship. From that respect, change and improvement grows. Many mental health challenges have social and historical roots. With practice, clients can learn to move beyond the past towards a healthier life. Our counselling practice is not about labelling; it is about helping people understand their own strengths and resilience.
