Landscape General Labourer

The Landscape General Labourer is responsible for a variety of tasks, generally physical labour, in order to assist with the completion of landscape and construction projects.

This is a Seasonal, Monday - Friday role with occasional Saturday’s. We serve the southern Manitoba region with specific focus in Winkler and Morden with occasional out-of-town projects.

Preference will be given to candidates with one or more years’ experience in the landscape/construction industry.

Responsibilities Overview

• Flexible working hours including occasional Saturday work

• Work outdoors in various conditions including heat and humidity, rain, dust, noise, and cold

• Construct walkways and patios, walls, fences, decks, posts, etc.

• Dig ditches or trenches and perform land clearing activities

• Plant and maintain garden beds and lawns

• Load and unload materials, tools, and equipment required to complete landscape construction projects

• Transport materials using shovels, wheelbarrows, carts, and hand lifting/carrying

• Perform preventative maintenance on tools and equipment by conducting inspections, lubricating, and cleaning on a daily basis

• Operate various tools including: chainsaws, laser levels, measurement equipment, shovels, hammers, drills, etc.

Requirements

• Effective communication skills (both verbal and written in English)

• Effective problem solving skills and proactive approach

• Valid driver’s license and safe driving record, Class 3 Driver’s License an asset

• Demonstrate competency with specific materials, methods, tools, equipment and techniques required to complete required tasks in a safe and responsible manner

• Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. repeatedly through an entire work shift

• High School Diploma, GED or equivalent
