Went through doing framers extention program they were great and the one teacher I had throughout my whole experience was Gary. Very great teacher on every subject. Makes you think about key things needed through out the course. Tasha was also incredibly helpful with booking stuff, arranging times making things work. Without these ppl helping I would have struggled to gain my class one. Everyone there is so great to deal with I really recommend this trucking school.

Unprofessional/unethical does not even begin to describe the Capilano Truck Driver Training Institute. They had told me that I had an Air brakes course booked for ten days after I had called initially and my Class 3 Road test booked two days after. The day that I came in to do my air brakes course, they had NO idea that I had booked for a class 3 road test and had said that I didn't have a testing day booked at all. They told me that they would call me on in two days to re-book my road test for another date. And not surprisingly, they never called me. I had to call them repeatedly after being put on hold 5 or 6 times for 20 minutes at a time. Only to be greeted by an incredibly rude person at the front desk telling me that they would call me back on Monday because their schedule was not in order. I waited until 30 minutes until Capilano was closed, and I decided to call them since they hadn't called me at all. This happened a few more days in a row and they hadn't booked me in for any road tests at all and had no idea what was going on. I called them several days later and they finally said that they had a road test booked for me. Which they later called me and changed the date on me AGAIN. They told me that it would cost $350 for my truck rental and road test (not including registry permit). Which is more than twice as expensive as what I had payed at Donovan Driving School after I was forced to book my road test with an honest business with organized and polite reception. I had called them two days prior to my test to confirm that they had ACTUALLY booked my road test this time. Which I was told that they did NOT have my name down for my road test that they had supposedly booked for me. You cannot trust that they will do what they say and book your road test, they are also incredibly expensive compared to other driving schools in Edmonton. I had passed my road test with the Donovan Driving school and as soon as I booked with them, I cancelled my road test with Capilano with two days notice. The next day, Capilano had called me and I was greeted by the same extremely rude and unprofessional reception person telling me that they were going to charge me a $200 admin fee for cancelling my test, which this information was not disclosed what so ever before hand. She then proceeded to yell on the phone and hang up on me after I explained that they had not actually done any administration and hadn't even sent an invoice for anything that I had previously purchased from them . Keep in mind that $200 admin fee is still MORE than I payed for my actual class 3 road test at Donovan Driving. I would never recommend booking any course type at the Capilano Truck Driver Training Institute. They are OVERPRICED, unprofessional, rude, DISHONEST, unethical and EXTREMELY unorganized. DO NOT BOOK ANY COURSES OR ROAD TESTS HERE.

I did my class 1 MELT program here at Capilano Truck Driver Training Institute and i must say it is the best experience of my life. I have learnt everything i need to be a great operator in general. Safety is very much at the core of their operations. I must say, their reputation really proceeds them. Special thanks to Gary, Scott, John and Don who i trained with at different stages of my course. The admin guys are also great and really good at what they do(Tasha, Josie and Nadeera). In short Guys, if you do your training course at Capilano, i bet its worth every of your penny and you would feel at home from your first day.

Had a very informative and personable instructor named Rob today. Taught us a lot, shared his own experiences, and fielded our own questions and experiences. I would highly recommend him if you're looking to upgrade Class 1A to 1A LCV certified

EXCELLENT VALUE! I recently took 2 hours of Class 3 refresher. I hadn't driven a truck in years. The whole experience was pleasant, informative, and very professional. I was enrolled quickly on very short notice and was fully accommodated by the instructor Brian. He listened to what my wants were and delivered with value and sincerity. Brian gave me a refresher crash-course in Pre-Trip check, Air Brakes, and upshifting/downshifting a manual transmission. He was professional, knowledgeable, patient and non-judgmental. He gently reinforced the basics while giving me free rein to learn at my pace. When my 2 hours were done he gave me printed info to take with me and then introduced me to another very knowledgeable instructor Don to answer my questions about future training. Thanks again Brian, you made my day! Highly recommended! .

At 1st I woulda recommended this driving school to absolutely anyone that wanted to become a professional driver... now I wouldn’t recommend this school to my worst enemy. I had to go back to school & get my class 1 back so I did the E&E & I was one of the 1st 2 people in all of Alberta to do this program. The instructor that taught this class was absolutely fantastic & knew it right to the point. He was vary professional & went beyond any expectations that could be asked of one. However as class went on.. this instructor was up for a job promotion, there for one of the other senior instructor’s felt the need to cause some hardship that then caused issue’s with the completion of the course. This went on for quit some time & Alberta Commercial Transportation got involved.. meanwhile this was happening not only did the senior instructor not give a darn who he was effecting or the hardship he was causing.. as well it seemed like the new owner didn’t & till this vary day dosent care a bit. However by this person’s actions I lost out on the job that I was wanting to get back into.. so that costed me $75,000.00 more a year. The manager from the get while this was all happening.. ( was absolutely acting on my side, saying this is gonna get resolved & this & that.. for weeks & weeks... & weeks.. & stated from the get go I would get refunded my monies back minimum & that was confident that the person that caused this wouldn’t have a job & be before commercial transport to have the teaching license pulled & this & that.. I received texts messages every other day ... saying this was gonna be dealt with & I would be given a meeting date to receive my monies ) Nothing yet has come of anything.. Prior to all this I recommended this place to 4 of my vary good friends, & a couple of them been getting the run around too!! I would not recommend this place at all no more

Excellent instructors and staff, I went to the school while it was owned by Dale/Barb and under the new owners as well. The quality has stayed the same, at the top.The instructors and staff genuinely care about their students. Although if you are young (under 21) have zero experience and zero connections don't expect the same treatment from the Alberta Government and 99.5% of all transportation companies, even after getting your Class 1 MELT license.
