Belief History of Canvasback Pet Supplies
From one Item...
In 1958, Mr. John Sellen had an idea. An avid field dog trainer, Mr. Sellen developed a training bumper made of canvas and packed with cork. Unmatched in its durability and scent holding qualities, many of Mr. Sellen's hunting colleagues took a liking to this "Canvasback Dummy" and wanted some for their own. So, Mr. Sellen took their orders, went home and began to manufacture the canvas dummies.
To ten thousand items...
Many years and several dummies later, the tradition continues at Canvasback Pet Supplies. Canvasback Pet Supplies has grown considerably since 1959 to include a 10,000 square foot store located near Lockport, Manitoba. The market for pet supplies has changed since then and so have we. We strive to provide a wide variety of natural, innovative products and try to source as much local and Canadian made product as we can. We strongly believe in supporting our local economies and giving back to our community. We have a knowledgeable staff that can help you with everything from deciding what pet food is right for you, to what color halter would look best on your new horse! She is EXACTLY the kind of trainer I was hoping to have for our pup Leo. She demonstrated through very hands-on techniques: "leave it," walking, sit, long-leash "come," and much more. I highly recommend Jenna and Canvasback as a locally owned pet supply store. Beautiful facility!!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ All around fantastic company! The store is great, so many options and such friendly staff. My questions always get answered and they are so kind to my dog. The play school option for doggy daycare is AMAZING! The staff are so great, Charlie loves his aunties (that’s what the staff call themselves, such a family vibe which is the best). The day is full of play and enrichment activities and I’ve been very pleased with the enforcement of training and behaviour pieces as well. I’ve also done training classes through Allay Canine which runs through Canvasback and it has been an amazing experience. I’ve seen so much improvement and I feel like I am actually learning how to communicate better with my dog which is so important. I drive out once a week from Winnipeg, worth the drive and every penny!

I appreciate shopping here, They have a nice variety food and toys and they are also very knowledgeable. They don't just say go to such and such aisle, they actually take you there and show you where it is.♥️

The staff were very knowledgeable and assisted me decided on food and supplements to support my complex health issued dog. The prices were much better than what I have paid in the city as well!
