DO NOT COME HERE. I'm confused how nobody is talking about the scam this cafeteria is. We pay $745 per month which is A LOT of money on food and let me tell you that this is absolutely not enough to eat for a month here. With the $745 a month you will only get 2 meals per day max and they will be VERY small portion. So you will have to pay extra and most likely pay closer to $1000 PER MONTH on food if you want to eat properly. This is a crazy amount of money just for food. THEIR SOLE GOAL IS TO DRAIN THE MONEY OUT OF YOU. Edit: They also fraudulently make you scan your cafeteria card twice sometimes and actually charge you TWICE. I was able to find this out only because I asked for receipts. Otherwise I would never have known. Always check before you scan your cafeteria card twice because it's way too easy for them to just tell you to do it twice.

I stayed and checked out in an hour its full waste of money, rooms looks like capsules with tiny rectangle outlet for AC that doesn’t work properly. Drawbacks: Check in time: 4PM Management: once you paid they don’t care about you. Can say racists & rude as hell. Note: Someone from the staff wont even bother knocking the door and can breach into your room anytime no matter what you are wearing or whatever will be the position(As per my experience) Not safe at all for you & your belongings.

Severely mismanaged. Aside from the very small rooms, the building itself is great, but there are so many major issues that I wouldn’t recommend staying here to many. To name just a few: - When McGill set strict Covid/guest related rules, Campus1 made all residents follow the rules, even those who were not McGill students. - Bad security. Many of the guards do very little or nothing that they should be doing. They’re essentially just for show. I even have friends that were harassed or just creeped out by security. - Building issues. The heating barely works, water will often come out brown, wifi stops working, no hot or cold water, frequent fire alarms, and much more. - Shady management practices. Example: I signed a lease that said “all you can eat” then all of a sudden management decided to change that to a declining balance. Because of my dietary restrictions I was often left with very little to eat. Despite having thousands of remaining dollars on my meal card, I was still forced to pay the ridiculously high $745 a month. The kitchen tried their best and I don’t blame this on them. Every time I tried to talk to management about it they would just deflect all blame to the kitchen. There are some very helpful members of management & staff, but for the most part it just seemed like the effort that was being put into the building was just enough so that it wouldn’t be shut down. The employee turnover here is super high which is not something that you would think matters, but it does. It has happened that when talking to a staff member about an issue, they would tell me to meet them on a certain day, only for me to go to meet them on that day and be told that they quit. Campus1 could be something amazing, but in its current state it is far from it. And as you’ll see in the reply to this review (if there even is one), they are doing very little to fix these major issues. It’ll just be a copy and pasted response to contact customer service. I made some greet friends, so I don’t completely regret staying here, but it’s amazing how much a poorly managed building can impact your experience.

This place is really such a sham. If you can DO NOT LEASE HERE. Rent is through the roof, especially when you consider what you have to put up with. The rooms were assembled VERY poorly. There are issues with the base boards, walls, and floor. That is not even mentioning how the thermostats don't even work. They will send maintenance a couple of times per semester if you complain enough (they won't do anything unless you complain a lot) and maintenance will "fix" the issue just to have to heat/ac not work the next week. The plumbing is also a major issue here. At the beginning of the year, there were a number of instances where the sewer water backflowed into our bathtubs and sinks. The sinks barely drain, which often leads the sink to become very dirty. The security guards here seem to be more interested to get students in trouble for minor infractions rather than ensuring a safe atmosphere in residence. Bottom line, if you can avoid Campus1, do so at all costs.

Please do not stay here, it is really the worst student building I have ever lived in. The food is bad with small portions. It is currently midterm season, the most stressful season of a university student's life, and Campus1 had two false fire alarms today in the winter - one of them being at 11:30 pm. They also had a 4 am fire alarm once and their elevators are constantly "under maintenance" or breaking down randomly and the stairs are closed unless for fire alarms, so if you have a midterm and get stuck on the elevator, best of luck.

We booked the room here via hotel.com and they didn’t have any picture of it on their website. The room was super small and super poor quality. It was like in a prison cell since they don’t have window or anything. It was really expensive for what they provided. It was $194/ 1 night for the poor quality room. We paid for 2 nights on the day we arrived but 5 minutes later, after seeing the room, we didn’t want to stay there anymore. They didn’t let us cancel even we just walked in and paid 5 minutes before. We talked to the girl at the front desk and she refused to help us. She said just come back the next morning and the person who works in the morning will help us out. So we had to stay that night. In the morning, they made up super weird cancellation policy and didn’t want to refund us the money for the second day. They said the minimum stay was 2 nights so they couldn’t refund the second day. I was super upset with that because we didn’t want to stay the minute we saw the room. You have to careful when you stay there. The service is not good. They don’t want to solve your problem but passing to other people to do it. I wouldn’t recommend to stay there.

This place is a scam. Small shoebox rooms, bland meal service, prices through the roof, if you're a student and considering coming here, it's comparable to living in a juvenile detention center both in value, size, and food quality. Go literally anywhere else, and you'd get a better value. I'm here on full scholarship, and I would still run far, far away from this place. Fire alarms every other day, you're paying $2000 for a sketchers shoe box room and absolutely bland kitchen nightmares food. Water goes brown a lot of the time. STAY AWAY. I've lived in 3 different residences across the world and this is by far the worst one I've ever lived at by a long mile. When you prepay for the food plan, they have no incentive to give you edible food. The meal plan, which is MANDATORY, is $700, 30% of the cost you'll pay if you stay here in the cheapest option. Bland pasta, undercooked pizza, overcooked burgers which taste like a hockey puck made of charcoal. They pretend to listen but make no tangible change. They'll probably put the same copy-paste response they do on every negative review, instead of making any actual improvement. Save yourself $2000 a month and get yourself a studio instead.

(TL;DR at bottom) Campus1 MTL provides a unique residence experience to students. I leased through McGill University and ended up at Campus1. The facilities are very modern and quite clean, which is probably the building’s strong point. The available amenities (gym, half-basketball court, cardio room, yoga room, lounge and study areas etc) are generally well-maintained and accessible. This is about the extent of positives you can expect at Campus1. Interactions with staff can be hit-or-miss, as some can be dismissive and rude while some can be more attentive or friendly. The cafeteria is spacious and provides various eating options. However, the food quality and portions are notoriously sub-par. Most students leasing through McGill tend to eat at other dining halls, since they have the option to do so. I know that many residents leasing directly through Campus1 do not have this option, which can be difficult for them. I lived in a split double-room and found the area to be rather small, but not unreasonable for a first-year residence experience. Paired with the problems, however, rent seemed abysmally high and should have warranted some discounts in light of everything. On a positive note, the student community in the residence is quite active, with many opportunities for group hikes, trips, and activities. During the pandemic, there has definitely been a sense that Campus1 sets their rules to the extreme, setting harsh capacity and distancing limits as well as restrictions on visitors and guests in the building. It is worth noting that some of these policies were also in line with McGill University policies, so it is not completely Campus1’s fault. Others, however, took general guidelines to their extremes. During my stay, there were also several issues with the building’s fire alarm system, with two false alarms occurring on a Thursday night (midnight and at 5:30am) during the week of many students’ midterm exams. There were many similar occurrences throughout the year. Other problematic elements of life at Campus1 included issues with the Wifi, which experienced frequent crashes during the first semester, with the wifi being largely unusable during peak times. While these issues have been less prominent in the second semester, there are still semi-frequent crashes. There was also an issue in the first semester with the plumbing, where at one point, brown/black water poured out of every tap and shower. The water was promptly cut off and restored several hours later. There were also semi-frequent issues and stoppages with the elevators in the building. On one occasion, I was stuck in an elevator for 45 minutes until a maintenance person arrived and pried the doors open. Another issue I consistently struggled with was laundry, with costs $4.25 per load ($2.25 for a standard wash and $2.00 for drying). I often had issues where I would start the dryer and watch it start, set a timer, then come back in an hour when it was supposed to be finished. The machine will say that the load is finished, but my clothing comes out very damp and only slightly warm. This has occurred with loads of various sizes and even when I set the dryer temperature to "high". Because it takes an hour and there is no way to know if it actually working until the hour is up, I have often had to stay an extra hour to re-dry my clothes and spend another $2.00. Overall, while Campus1 would not have been my first choice, it provided a unique environment to spend my first-year experience at McGill. Living at Campus1 has required a good sense of humour and the ability to make the best out of unique circumstances. Not a day went by where you didn't hear "oh, x broke/malfunctioned/was rotten? Just another day at Campus1, I guess". TL;DR The facility and its amenities are pretty nice but with issues with the food, wifi, fire alarms, and staff, life here can be more challenging than university itself, which definitely says something. If you want to live here, equip yourself with a good sense of humour and be prepared for anything.
