About Calgary Sport & Social Club

About The Club

The Calgary Sport & Social Club was founded in 1996 based on a rising need: adult Calgarians love to play sports and have fun! The goal of the CSSC is to encourage as many people as possible to ‘get in the game’. Whether players have no skill, or a lot of skill, as long as they want to join in the ‘fun-first, winning-second’ mentality, they will fit right in! With a large variety of leagues, tournaments and events throughout the year, the CSSC offers something for everyone.

One of the perks that players of The Club receive is access to a variety of sponsor bars. Different food and drink specials are offered exclusively to CSSC players 7 days a week. Visit the sponsor bars after games to make your CSSC experience a social affair from start to finish.

Players can register by themselves, with friends or with a full team. When it comes to getting Calgarians in the game, the CSSC can, and will make it happen for anyone who wants in.

About The Staff

The office team at the CSSC loves to follow the ‘work hard, play hard’ motto. Every employee knows how important an active lifestyle and social connections can be in the lives of busy Calgarians. The staff are passionate individuals who work hard every day to provide the best experience for the players. Below is the CSSC team line-up and some relevant (and not so relevant) information about them.

CSSC is amazing! Playing sports is always the highlight of my week!! I have played multiple sports within the league and have always been extremely impressed with every staff member I've encountered. The employees of the league are all extremely passionate about sports, their jobs and ensuring that everyone has the best experience. Thank you for all that you do CSSC, you guys rule!

I’ve played with cssc for YEARS. multiple different sports. It was always so fun, but as of lately, our team dreads going due to unfair discipline over absolutely nothing, misunderstanding from cssc employees, and overall teams are treated very differently from one another. It’s completely disrespectful and just upsetting. We’ve had to switch leagues due to all these ongoing issues that cssc has caused :(

CSSC is great, our team had lots of fun playing in the rec soccer league. Also, whenever I call, I am always impressed with the service I receive as everyone is always extremely friendly and willing to help. Highly recommend!

We joined a recreational basketball league. Our team had a mix of ages and experience. We had 3 players over 40 years old, our team average height was maybe 5'6". That is what I expected out of a rec league and also what I'd expect in other teams. In reality, we have not faced a single other team with someone over the age of 35. Most other teams averaged around 5' 10" tall. Every team has been very aggressive. One girl actually drew blood scratching a few of us. This is not what I expected out of a recreational league. I've watched games from competitive leagues and players are much more respectful. A very poor experience. I would not recommend using this group if you're interested in recreational basketball.

I have played with CSSC for the entire 4 years I have lived in Calgary in multiple different sports. Locations - okay. Refs (rarely applicable) okay. I recently was unable to sign up for a league as early due to a medical circumstance. I registered a small group after filtering to what was available for small groups. I was then called and told that we cannot play that night and must move to a Sat/Sun which did not work for my team. I asked if the computer glitched or why it said the sport/timing was available, and then was ridiculed for signing up so late and that it was ridiculous I would be signing up with more than a couple others. Needless to say I immediately started looking at alternate leagues. Update: I did have someone else handle the situation well by offering a discount with a league switch and creating a placeholder to accommodate us.

I decided this was the year to dust off the soccer boots and get back into the game. So I registered for Wednesdays (as an individual) outdoor soccer league through the CSSC. I was registered by the deadline date for summer leagues, and all was good until I got an email back on April 20, 2022 saying I have received a refund for my initial registration. The email read, "Unfortunately we were unable to place you in the Wednesday league this season". The email also stated, "Feel free to reply if you have any questions", so I did within a half hour of receiving the first email. I basically asked why I was unable to be put in the league, if there wasn't enough interest this year, and if there were other soccer league days or other sports that I could join. Its been about a week and I haven't heard anything back.. I looked at the schedule that I was originally signed up for and it turns out there is two 'Individual Teams' composed of 15 players each, but its like you couldn't add one more player for no shows or substitutes, or even make a whole other 'Individual Team' with 5 players from each of those two teams. I'm not the type to write a review and sound like 'a Karin', but its just disappointing I didn't hear back, cause I might have been able to join another sport or league sooner.
