Calgary Academy has been a blessing for our son and our family. They provide unique tools in their teaching for every students learning differences and accomodate most students that come to them for assistance. My son is managing a B+ average now within his grade level curriculum! This tremendously improves his self confidence and his ability to continue moving forward in his schooling! Thank you Calgary Academy!

I am a high school student at Calgary Academy and I find C.A perfectly suitable, namely the teachers are willing to put in the time for students. The high school program stresses self advocacy, and the staff and teachers develop a supportive environment for us students. In addition, the school counsellor Mr. Tolsma is very helpful with university and post secondary education applications. If need be he will sit down and help students with their entire application. All my teachers are professional, and show a genuine interest in helping each of their student achieve their best. 06/ 2019 As a university student in a decently difficult program, I can confidently say that the learning strategies and the general outlook developed during my tenure as a student at Calgary Academy have given me an advantage over the competition. Despite what people may say about the school, as an alumni, I felt prepared and supported on my journey into post secondary education. 11/2019

I enrolled in Calgary Academy from Grade 6 to Grade 8 in 1999-2002. The learning support was great. I learned ways of organizing my self in school. I was well educated, despite me having a hard time learning and focusing at school. I was able to learn easily at Calgary Academy. I also enjoyed reading more. I was in grade 5, but I was transformed to a grade 6 class to be with people of my age and I could get along with. The Calgary Board of Education reassured me of moving up with grade of my age. But Calgary Academy decided to throw me down a grade, as I was held back in grade 1, because of my learning disability. I was thrown in classrooms with kids younger then me, who I had a rough time fitting in with. It made me depressed and I miserable for 3 years. The learning aspect was good for me, but the social atmosphere was poor and not very inclusive for me. I was made fun of and felt the maturity level of most students were poor and ignorant compared to other schools I went to. It effected my social development. CBE decised to not hold youths back a grade up to grade 9 anymore, because it I can traumatize people.

My daughter went here from grade 7 thru 12. She has a significant reading disability and this school helped her way more than public school. She graduated with 90% plus in all of her classes. She didn't even have a grade 4 reading level when she was enrolled, the teachers were amazing.

Our son has a learning disability and we were led to believe through conversations with Calgary Academy, that they would be able to support his learning path. From grade 2 to the beginning of grade 9 we were told year after year that he was doing fine. Then we were told they couldn't support him for grade 10 because he was so far behind. When we asked why they didn't share this with us sooner. We were given the answer that they thought they could get him to catch up. That was 3 years ago and we're still dealing with our sons low self esteem, learning challenges and struggles to feel like the can be a part of society.

Amazing school. They offer 2 streams, regular and specialized. The drama program is outstanding and most of the teachers are incredibly dedicated. Kids have been attending for many years and it has been extremely positive. Small classes. Collegiate program has been exceptional in helping prepare for university.
