We were staying at the Wakefield Inn and was looking for a nice restaurant but didn't want to drive back from Gatineau or Chelsea. We had an excellent dinner and service at Le Hibou. The food was excellent. The chef prepared a delicious aged steak cooked exactly to my liking. The deserts were succulent. Worthy of a 5 star hotel. The look of the restaurants is deceiving but the food is great. The staff was genuinely awwsome. We were served by Vinnie and Luther. Honest people. Will definitely go back!

We've been dining at this restaurant since 2020 and we always had a great experience. The waitresses are always warm and tend to your needs without any delay. The food is amazing no matter what we order. It is so hard to get a good vegetarian dish but their beet burger is beyond awesome. Their fish and chips and calamari rings are our favorite!

Nice place next to the lake. The service was good and the waiters are very friendly. I tried the fish and ships. The fish was small and the fries were most of the dish. The food quality is good I enjoyed my meal. The price is a bit on the high side 19$. I would go back for the whole experience

It's a lovely place. My family and I came here for dinner. There was candles on each table and the atmosphere was great. I was entertained by all the owl decorations around the restaurant. The waiter was really easy going and funny. The hostess was also really friendly and was quick to bring my family and I to a table. The menu is small, but they cook the dishes well. 5 stars for me.

Local food with big flavour. All the good was absolutely terrific and the staff was amazing. Would definitely return to get the butter chicken poutine and the cauli bites again. Fantastic.

Whilst searching for a lunch option a drive away from Gatineau, I stumbled across enough positive reviews of Le Cafe Hibou to make the trip to Wakefield. The restaurant has an alluring space, with lot's of natural light, and after a short wait we were brought to our table. The menu is standard pub food with a few interesting global twists, and I sampled the owner's highly recommended butter chicken poutine, nachos and burger. The food definitely arrives slowly, and I wouldn't recommend visiting if you're in a hurry, but across the board, it was worth the wait. Nachos looked ordinary, but were surprisingly tasty, with a good ratio of cheese to sauce and a well spiced sour cream. I also asked for hot sauce, and was brought two delicious house-made sauces. I was also a fan of the butter chicken poutine, which featured a delicious sauce that paired well with the fries and squeaky cheese curds. As someone who often orders a classic poutine en lieu of one loaded with options, I enjoyed the novelty in the idea and execution of the poutine. Best of all was a delicious burger, that was juicy and tasted slightly of char. Accompanying fries were also delicious, especially when dipped in the slightly spicy chipotle mayonnaise. Although full, I was tempted by the creme brulee, especially given the quality of the dishes that had preceded, but was dissapointed. The cream itself was tasty, but the burnt sugar slightly chewy and bitter. Overall, I was impressed by the quality of Cafe Le Hibou's food and would be excited to return to sample more of the restaurant's menu.

You come to Wakefield for that cozy getaway feeling and Le Hibou is just what the doctor ordered. Delicious home made food and almost everything is locally grown. We got the French Onion soup and the chicken masala poutine. Delicious and I can’t wait to come back in the summer when the patio is open and there’s live music!
