Alberta nursery specializing in native plant species such as hardy trees and shrubs.

About Bow Point Nursery

All of this effort results in a stronger plant which will adapt to your conditions quickly, with less required maintenance and a much higher chance of success. When a tree or a plant is grown within the boundaries of a pot, it can become pot bound and struggle to expand when planted, or it can end up in a garden centre in a climate it is not intended for; common reasons why new shrubs and trees do not make it through the winter and into the next season.

The staff at Bow Point are experts in the challenges of growing things in the Calgary area. The selection of stock is good, the service is excellent and the expertise is without parallel. And the prices are pretty good too.

Was looking for some trees and shrubs for a trouble spot in the yard - on a slope, with lots of sun, and poor soil. Nothing that was previously planted would grow there. Lindsey was very helpful. She knows exactly what will and what won't grow in the Calgary area and why. She suggested a few different options and combinations, and was very patient in explaining the differences, what to expect, and how to get the best results after planting. We worked out exactly what we needed and they even delivered it right into our yard. The end combination will look great and require very little maintenance.

My one and only experience with this nursey can only be considered as disappointing. While tree and plant knowledge provided was adequate, service was amateurish. Once a decision was made to make the purchase , the owner/staff could not provide me with correct pricing for delivery and planting. after much debate amongst themselves, the owner finally gave me price. Too my chagrin, the following day, I received a call from someone in the Nursery's office stating to me that the price delivery and planting quoted by the owner was incorrect. After much discussion on the phone, the price which was originally quoted to me was given. During that same call, a delivery date and time was agreed upon . Upon delivery date (which was first of the day) their delivery truck arrived 90 minutes past the scheduled time. While operational challenges can effect any business, I did not receive a call from the Nursery advising me that the delivery was going to be delayed - I made the call to the Nursery 45 minutes past scheduled delivery time to make that determination. Once the 2 delivery men arrived, I received no apology for their tardiness, which one would normally expect to receive. Service from one of the 2 delivery people was outstanding, however, the secondary helper was terribly inexperienced. As a result, I believe I was over-billed for the time taken to plant (billed on an hourly basis). Once I received my invoice, I spoke to both the front office staff and the owner about re-considering the final billing price. Both experiences were terribly unprofessional and disturbing, considering how abrasive and rude both the staff and owner were in handling my concerns. The matter concluded on the basis that because I was given exceptional pricing for the delivery and the planting, no consideration would be given to me to reduce the bill. I guess the adages of 'time is money' and it's 'service that sells' don't apply to this business. Be careful!

Amazing experience picking out trees yesterday. Zero pressure and took great care/time explaining different species to us. We will return in a few weeks for our fruit trees as well. Doesnt hurt that the prices cannot be bear either! Will be telling everyone of our fantastic experience.

The purchase experience was very good; we received a lot of help. The post shopping experience was TERRIBLE. The clematis I bought died within two weeks of purchasing it (I planted it the same day I bought it and the other two plants I bought are doing fine). When I called the nursery I was told there was no guarantee on perennials; basically we were screwed. What kind of nursery won’t guarantee their plants for at least two weeks? There was no offer of an exchange or a return. Very disappointed in this nursery and will never shop there again. Since then I found a lovely greenhouse near Bragg Creek. Their plants are much healthier and the prices are much lower - $15.99 for a clematis versus $25.00 for my now dead clematis.

great experience, invaluable knowledge and well priced. the recommended trees and bushes thrive in our yard with little to no maintenance because they are meant for the climate and soil conditions. highly recommend.
