★ ★ ★ ★ ★ My daughter and I had a nice experience at BoB on a busy Saturday afternoon. We happened to visit on Independent Bookstore Day, so we enjoyed a nice discount, and the staff also marked the day with a few draws for book packages. Service was terrific, even though there were so many customers in a small space. We are quite satisfied with our purchases, too.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I’m conflicted on my review because there are two workers working. One of them is so friendly, and the other one is absolutely miserable.
It’s a really nice store, and I was excited to just find a book and enjoy the beautiful day at one of the local shops. The one lady was very kind and just asked politely if I needed help. I told her that I was just browsing and she left me to my own devices.
The older lady with the whiter hair was so rude. Just an unpleasant demeanour from the moment I walked in. I heard how she spoke with other customers and I just wonder why she is working with people at all.
I bought a book and the kinder lady helped me which was nice. It’s a shame that one person can kind of ruin the experience of such a nice shop.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 20211104 Ottawa used to have many more independent bookstores. Alas, time has changed and one by one they are disappearing from our neighbourhoods. So I am glad to find "Books on Beechwood" is again open for in-store browsing and shopping.
In terms of client service, I have visited many independent bookstores and do not mind being asked whether i need help or not. After all, a bookstore is not a library. I have no problem with all my visits to Books on Beechwood (since ~10 yrs ago) and the staff are always both friendly and helpful.
In terms of their books, I always enjoy browsing through what they have on display and if I can't find a particular title or authour, the staff are always willing to order or provide advice.
I will continue to recommend Books on Beechwood to my friends, esp those who support local independent bookstores.

If they don't have the book you are looking for, they will happily order it for you. They also have an interesting selection of eclectic non-book items, which are great for gifts. Highly recommended!
