About Blind River Rotary Club
The Blind River Rotary Club is part of Rotary International, an International movement of over 35,000 clubs and more than 1.2 million members. Our Club was founded on June 7, 1989 with 21 members. We were one of the first clubs in the world to welcome both men and women as members. Rotary’s philosophy and approach is encapsulated in our motto, “Service Above Self”.
Our Club prides itself on organizing fundraising activities, rather than soliciting donations. We support individuals, as well as local and international projects, we recognize and honour outstanding citizens of Blind River, and we organize community events such as the spring Golf Tournament and weekly Concerts by the River in the summer. Support ranges from gifts bags for seniors at Christmas, international youth exchanges, monetary donations to assist with medical treatment, local schools, attending post secondary education, the Blind River Refugee Family Committee, the Blind River Beavers hockey team, the Blind River Nordic Ski Club, to aiding in eradicating polio worldwide ... and more.
