Black Bear Ridge Golf Course

It is always a pleasure to come back to Blackbear. With the family feel of the staff. The course was in championship condition. Can't wait to take it on again.

This course is immaculate. Fast, true greens. Beautiful scenery. One negative: And it has nothing to do with the grass.... During a frost delay in the morning, a staff member was extremely rude to 2 of us. The disappointing part of this is that I believe this staff member was the head golf professional of the course. We were patiently waiting around for over an hour and a half for the frost to melt, and decided to throw a football in an empty section of the parking lot to kill time and keep the muscles loose and warm. Out of nowhere, this staff member, in a crude and disrespectful manner, approached me and told me "Can't you guys see there's a business meeting going on?". I replied "no sir, sorry, I don't understand", thinking I may have not understood a joke he was trying to make. He then proceeded to let us know in a very stern manner that there was a business meeting taking place in one of the clubhouse rooms nearby and to stop what we were doing immediately, while shaking his head in disgust. Being 9 in the morning on Saturday, with very few people around, it did not appear as though there was anything going on inside this clubhouse room nearby (as if casually throwing a ball in a parking lot is distracting to something going on inside 30 yards away). In any case, if he wanted us to stop throwing the football, he could have asked politely and perhaps even apologized for the frost delay and not having the course notify us the day before by email/phone about a possible frost delay given the temperature forecast for the night being -5. It is unfortunate that the game of golf is associated with snobby and uptight people like this staff member. I love golf, but there are far too many of these types of people being involved with the game. It's a shame. You're lucky the course is so beautiful. If this was any other average course... automatic 1-star.

This was a wonderful golf course to play. The affordable green fees are well worth it to play this high quality course. I appreciated that they offered both 9 hole and 18 hole options, as I didn't have time to play a full 18. The course was in great shape and I had an enjoyable walk. The only thing I would warn golfers is to wear bug spray! I didn't and got eaten alive by mosquitos in the low lying forested areas. Otherwise, it was an awesome place to play and I will absolutely go back.

Outstanding course! Great layout built around nature. Each hole feels like its own isolated challenge and has its own personality. Course is in immaculate condition and is great price for the quality of golf experience it delivers. Come ready to play, it will challenge any golfer but the experience is so worth it. The course just oozes class!!

Had a fantastic day with my son! Beautiful course. Great condition! Pick the correct tees and it's a great challenge. Only downside was a group of hacks with no etiquette held everyone up on the back 9. Turned into a 5hr and change round. Looking forward to playing there again!

Great course and fun layout. A mix of water, uphill, downhill, elevated tees and elevated greens.

Immaculately kept course. Definitely a top course in Canada. Very reasonably priced for a course of this caliber. I enjoyed the elevation changes on several holes. Deer and horse flies were bad but I played at 7 am on Sunday in july. This course was worth the 2.5 hour drive to get to it. I will be back someday.

Great golf course! The conditions were incredible from the Tee boxes to the greens. Bunkers were in great shape, greens were fast and consistent and the pace of play was reasonable. They have 6 choices for Tees for golfers of all skill levels. Had great service experience from the minute we checked in. They delivered range balls to us at the range and the starter was knowledgeable and courteous with our group. Overall just a fantastic experience at a price that is very reasonable for what you get. Not hard to see how this course is ranked so highly. I will be back for sure.
