Becky-Jo's Vovo Fried Dough

Stopped by on the way to our cottage. Super friendly and welcoming staff. I bought some fried dough and fresh baked buns. They were both excellent. This will be a regular stop for us on our journey to the cottage. I would highly recommend this hidden gem.

To be fair, this is not a review of their product, and only a review of the unacceptable service I received (or didn't receive). We were on our way to a friend's cottage and wanted to get some treats for everyone. We had passed by the store a prior drive, and looked forward to trying their fried dough. I went in at around 2:30 on Saturday. There was a gentleman who seemed to be waiting for his order. To socially distance, I stood across the store from him. No one acknowledged or greeted me. No problem, they're busy I'm sure. There is a sign that says there a two person max capacity in the store. Two other girls come in, and they're greeted and served immediately. I didn't want to cause a scene and figured I would be served next, no big deal, we all make mistakes. If it was a huge deal, I could have said something. Another lady, who I assume was more of a supervisor, possibly even the owner, came from the back and started speaking with the person taking orders. They had to fill a bunch of online orders and maybe delivery orders, and there was a training session on flavour sorting for the two girls. Anyway...I was so sure I would be served now.... NOPE! STILL no one even glanced my way or acknowledged I was there. I walked up closer to the counter. Nothing. I ended up leaving because as hard as it is to believe, I can't imagine the terrible service was not personal somehow - they did not want to serve me. I'm happy to see they're doing well and have more orders than they can handle, but it would be nice if they hired enough people so they could serve everyone fairly. It's unacceptable to wait 10 minutes without even being acknowledged.

We had a few dough dogs today from Becky-Jo's; they were beyond good thank you to the staff and owner who made our shopping a fun experience; I had the Portuguese dough last week, and it was also delicious and fresh. I took an order home, and can't wait to have it later in the day. She was also kind enough to pose for a picture that I planned on using for a blog post about Kirkfield.

I have been to Beck Jo's several times. All the desserts I have tried are amazing. I can never eat just one. Whenever I go in it is busy. I assume it is because the quality of food is so good. I now book my order ahead. I will definitely be back.

These are hands down, the BEST doughnuts!!! And these people are wonderful too!! Oh, and the cheesecake... We stop here everytime we come to town, and you should too!!

Just went to Becky-Jo’s for the first time and had a great experience! Everyone was so welcoming! We tried the Fried Dough Sundae and it was incredible! We also bought some buns and loved those too. Definitely going to be the spot to visit when we’re in the area! ?

If you’re into dough… you gotta go ? Thank you to the super kind staff for the delicious cinnamon dough pie and coffee. I was also offered a tuna croquette to try (it was delicious).

I have been to Becky-Jo’s a couple of times and so far have had nothing but great experiences and walked out with impressive baked goods and fried dough. Having moved out of Toronto, I miss some of the things that was readily available there. I am very thankful that we now have this in our town so that I don’t have to feel like I am missing out too often. If you are heading to or from the cottage, pop by and give this wonderful local business a try.
