Designed by architect Leonard Buttress Trimen, this structure is a fine example of late-Victorian era design and carpentry. The bandstand was built in 1888 and is the oldest surviving structure in Beacon Hill Park. The building served as a social hub for park visitors and it continued to serve the community in that capacity for many years even after being moved to its current location in 1900. The structure has been re-purposed several times since then and is currently functioning as an ornate information kiosk. There are nine posters mounted on the exterior walls of the building that each contain information and stories about the history of Beacon Hill Park.
