BC Event Makers

Staff PAY was witheld - I worked for this organization at a City of Vancouver Event and then they refused to pay me. At first it was presented to me as an accounting oversight, but this was not the first time an "error" took place. Eventually, I was told they wanted to reduce the amount of hourly wage I was earning. Other issues exist within the organization that is the responsability of the employer to attend. I observed a severe lack of attention to training and crew safety. I was eventually paid for my shift - but standing my ground for compensation came with other costs. As an employeer this organization needs to take better care of it's people, repair their equipment and improve their understanding of BC Labour Standards and WorkSafe Rules.... There appears to be a high potential for the exploitation of staff and risk of injury. The approach taken regarding the administration of my payroll was disapointing and according to Work Safe BC - inapropriate behaviour on the part of BC Event Makers.
