From grinding our own chickpeas and herbs for falafel, making yogurt for labneh, to pickling turnips, everything is made from scratch with the freshest ingredients. I hope you enjoy your food as much as I did making it.

Hidden gem for sure. The food was excellent and service super friendly. We ate in, there are a small number of tables so pick up/delivery is a good idea. Where else can you get fries with kefta? Very nice, smooth hummus, excellent to dip those fries in! That, or the garilic aioli. Excellent, flavorful, tabouli as were the falafels. Cheese manakeesh nicely grilled with a hint o' mint.

Cute intimate restaurant located in the historic Garrick Hotel. This one man show is fueled by a true passion for Lebanese food. Everything is made fresh by hand and served piping hot. Pressed sandwiches come in combos, falafel is super crunchy made with tasty herbs, sandwich is full of tangy pickled turnip and crispy fries. Three yummy sauces all homemade include lebneh, garlic aioli and hummus, put them on every menu item! Except maybe the Tabouli which is the best!! Fresh parsley, mint, tomato in delicious light dressing is the perfect side. The Zataar is a flavor explosion, and Basil also makes really good pizza, the dough is soft and chewy and crispy and made fresh by hand every day.

I have been to Basil's three times now. Just a hole in the wall inside the front entrance the the Garrick Hotel. (Turn right before you hit the bar area.) The food is lovely, I've been having the shish tawook, which is a bbq'd, marinated chicken. Delish. Prices can't be beat at $7 for a fresh-made wrap, though twice I've sprung for the full platter with fries and a salad to make it a full-on meal. The hours are a bit limited and the seating area is very tiny, (you can eat in the bar if you want), but I guess that's part of the charm about finding a nice, independent, one-man-show, downtown restaurant. I definitely will be back.

Tiny hidden gem inside the Garrick Hotel, to the right of a short corridor. Makes you feel like you're in a big city finding this secret spot! Chef/owner is adamant about everything from scratch, and you can definitely taste that in the food. So far have tried the zaatar (flatbread with seasonings) with labneh (Lebanese cream cheese), the shish tawook (bbq marinated chicken) platter - comes with two sides and pita with hummus, falafel (DELICIOUS) and the tabbouleh. Probably the best tabbouleh I've had in the city. Basil's also has some bar staples, poutines and such which are also great but don't miss the Lebanese! Everything is fresh and tasty and I will definitely be back.

I highly recommend going there for lunch or dinner. The food is so fresh and flavourful. Everything I have tried was amazing. Definitely try the pressed pita sandwiches! They are second to none! The portions are great and you will not leave hungry.
