★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I visited Baldy Mountain on September 6, 2020. This is the highest point in Manitoba at 832 metres. It’s not a defined “mountain” like you would expect but rather a hill.
There is a viewing tower and old wooden cabin (with interesting history) along with a short hiking trail. I didn’t hike the trail but climbed to the top of the lookout tower. There were great views from the top of the surrounding landscape of forest and prairie fields in the distance.
This is the only area of Duck Mountain where there is fast cell service as well.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Awesome view from the highest elevation in Manitoba. Note: cell service on the way to the viewpoint is nil or spotty at best. Plan to drive the entire way in the park on loose gravel roads. Watch for wildlife!! I past by four deer and one moose! At the viewpoint, there is a trail you can take or climb up the viewing tower. The cell service is LTE at the top so lots of opportunities to stream, etc…. Have fun!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Ok, yeah, ita a little out of the way. We were going to be going down near duck mountain anyways, so figured we'd check it out. After a long week of travelling, we were really afraid that it was going to be at the end of the hike. We were so happy that we could see it and rest before hiking. The area is well taken care of. Out houses are cleaner than most. Ample parking and picnic tables. Even a fire box. The cabin was closed, but that's fine. Both of us are afraid of heights, but still climbed the 12 meter tall viewing tower. It's definitely worth it. Fully recommend.
