Back Door Mission

If you or someone you know needs help, Back Door Mission offers a number of services. Hot, freshly made meals every day, coffee and water, Ontario Works support, a medical team on site with private examination areas, a quiet room if you need to get away, crisis and mental health supports, harm reduction and withdrawal management. Back Door Mission is there to help. Lots of volunteer opportunities. Still running through Covid - protections are in place.

Nice place if you are homeless or hungry. They have free meals 7 days a week and as many free coffees as you need to get going and start your day. From what I hear they have skilled a doctor and nurses willing to help vulnerable individuals with all types of problems. Also got my flu shot down there a couple of weeks back.

Great place when in need. Several amenities if you will. Sadly on some days having to witness some who need this place treat it as though it's not a charity but a place that should be at their beckon will. Please respect the place as much as they respect you.

I was in need of something to eat, and they provided a meal, a good safe place to go in the day time, it's open 10am to 1pm daily. They have a security guard onsite. As well as other services to help the less fortunate.

When I really need help The Missions volunteers make me feel wanted important and one of our Creators gifts.from food. Coffee medical and Every thing in between. They'll help with all the resources available to them .Many Blessings and Love.

These people do wonderful things for the people that come to them for help. Easiest way to donate so you can help out too is to give Backdoor money to buy what they need to help the poor and less fortunate.

This place is a concept that Ontario has clung to for a while, and, as a whole, our country's social affairs addressing the needy, whether homeless, addicted, or mentally ill, if we are aware this "problem" has existed for many years, maybe even since "civility" began, how and why isn't it fixed? If food is made with "Love", available free, services to find a place, free, help and support to beat an addiction,and even a temporary place to rest for a day, or few hours, it's definitely worth 5stars. We should blame the government these volunteers aren't paid. Instead of telling people to move away from their camp spot, whether security or police, the city of Oshawa should have borrowed more money to eradicate an issue, not patch it, as -42 or so room's do not take care of several thousand, currently homeless, addicted, or ill. If our government can cover us through "Covid"(a huge mass of our population), why couldn't they invest in proper homes for people that may not have the ability to work? Why isn't the government paying the people trying to fix this issue?-and why isn't it better??? At least Back Door Mission is granting the general populace of impoverished, a chance to step up. This place isn't "enabling" people to remain, in fact, it shouldn't even exist, if we are "Loving", "enough". The only criticism I would give is, not all people are vegetarian, some would like a good chunk of protein, a nice healthy steak, wouldn't you if you were in their situation?

They have a great outreach ministry to the homeless and low-income people in the city. We have donated in memory of our son, and will definitely continue to do so. If you're interested in donating, call ahead to find out what kinds of clothing or foods they need most.
