I cannot say that these dogs are treated unfairly by the staff, however, they are certainly treated poorly by those of us who partake in this hobby (including myself) which I will NEVER do again after my observations December 2017. These poor creatures are chained to a plastic cold bucket of a dog house by a 4 foot chain. They eat where they excrete their waste. They live to be taken out no more than twice a day on a sleigh ride for our pleasure. The staff says they are protected by their fur, but they look freezing, frightened and are shivering at all times. The staff will only allow you to pet 2-4 of the dogs at the end and state the others are "unpredictable". That means there are hundreds of dogs that get no love or decent human contact. The staff tells us they live to be 10-11 and then they are "put down" because no one will adopt them. They are born there, and they die there for our amusement. I am sure the company will try and dispute what I have said, but go and see for yourself and talk to the staff. It is not limited to this particular organization, I am sure they are all the same. They have hundreds of dogs in these conditions because the dogs can only go on 2 sleddings a day. If you do the math, that is roughly 20 hours a day on a 4 foot chain in freezing temperatures with little to no human or dog contact. Here is a photo of my son petting one of the only two dogs we were allowed to pet. notice the plastic bucket in the background encased in wood and the short chain attached. no hay or warming material inside. hundreds of these and I looked everywhere for an fenced area that they could possibly allow the dogs to run freely, but to no avail. The staff said they would fight with eachother too much. Went to this place extremely excited for the experience and left feeling like I contributed to their pain, which I did.

it feels weird to write a bad review of something as special as 'dog sledding' . We went with three adults and three kids. We were assured three sleds (one adult and one kid per sled). We were told "there are hundreds of dogs, dont worry'. Sure enough, we get to the sleds and the guide says there are not enough sleds. We are forced to put three to a sled. It was so lame. Secondly, the guide was amazingly sweet and nice, but she could not handle her dogs. Her dogs got tangled several times (once causing us to stop for 20 minutes+). So much for the hour of sledding. Then another guide (senior guy) went to help her. She started moving again and the guide told me to move and he gave the dogs the signal to move. I moved. The cart in front of me was stuck and my dogs went into him a bit. This would not have been an issue except that the dogs started attacking each-other full on, right over the poor woman in the sled. My kids were traumatized and I think the lady in the sled really had an unpleasant experience. The place was poorly managed (but the staff were all super nice, so I feel bad writing this review). Still, I expect that you are better off with one of the other sledding companies.

I strongly discourage anyone from participating in this activity. The dogs are neglected and live in harsh conditions. They are being exploited and it breaks my heart everytime I think of them.

We had a wonderful time as a family of 4 with two young children. Our guide was friendly and funny, and answered all the questions we had about the dogs when back at the hot chocolate station. Beautiful scenery, and very well run and organised.

We had a great time! Our tour included this package and I’m glad we participated. The dogs were so well behaved and they were well taken care of. The staff gave us good instructions on operating the sled especially braking! My only disappointment was that it was only 15 min long. Remember to bring warm outerwear!

Amazing experience. We were there January 2020 and our guide Gabriel was really a great help. We all enjoyed the dog sled, the scenery and overall, the experience. Best customer service, and indeed, great adventure!

Here’s a thing you need to do! Wear a zillion layers and go dogsledding with Inukshuk! You will need some patience and layers. Participants only - there’s no place to watch - but these dogs know where to go and everything is safe enough. English is spoken.
