I got a few lessons gifted by my partner that were so good I signed up for a 10 week block. Dorcas studio is a safe, fun, relaxed atmosphere with Dorcas providing a plethora of tips not only to improve the voice but also to improve vocal health - something relatively new to me! I feel I've steadily improved in our short time together focused on soft-palette lifts and breathwork I'm much more comfortable on both ends of my range. Most importantly, I've enjoyed the sessions - a break from work and the 'usual' hobbies! I'd happily recommend Dorcas to anyone looking to improve their vocal skills!

To be honest the only reason I don't want to write this review is that she will get booked out and I won't be able to book in sessions with her ;-) Kidding but seriously - her space is professional, she's really knowledgable, comes from experience in her own signing journey and doesn't just run you through a system or program but uses her skills to assess where you are and what you need to go where you want to go. Dorcas really makes you feel safe to learn and grow and gives you the push you need to achieve your goals. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND HER!

After a search online, I found Dorcas. I read all her reviews and I thought I would try out a lesson. I was very anxious going into it because I had a bad experience with a music teacher in my youth, but Dorcas helped me get over that very quickly. Dorcas is kind, patient, understanding and fun. I like how she didn't have cookie cutter lessons, but tailored it to my needs. I think she's brilliant at what she does, has A LOT of knowledge and knows how to teach that information well. I think it's a bonus that she's a great singer too. I look forward to her lessons. Her passion is infectious. I started with one off lessons for a few months and now I'm on my 2nd term with her. Don't just take my word though, I encourage you to try out a lesson and see for yourself. You'll be glad you did. I'd also recommend following her exercises even if they don't make sense in the moment. She has a method to her madness. I'm happy with my progress with her.

Her lessons have been foundational and tailored to my needs and my voice. I’ve felt lots of improvements and I can now practice knowing what I’m doing and what’s right and healthy for my voice. Dorcas in addition to being a knowledgeable teacher, she’s friendly, nice and a detail-oriented. Looking back I made a great decision to take lessons with her and look forward to continue working on my technique.

I came to Dorcas as a singer-songwriter and performer, without any training. Dorcas has given me the tools and technique to really get to know my voice and to use it to its best potential. I had an introductory lesson in October, and then signed up for weekly lessons for the fall, and this winter / spring. I am an amateur who never had vocal training before; I was in choir as a child, and as an adult enjoyed karaoke nights at friends' houses. I wanted to improve as a singer, but to be honest, I didn't realize how much improvement was truly possible. Dorcas is knowledgeable, insightful, and encouraging. In her studio, she fosters a beautiful safe space to explore your voice - and any internal hang-ups you may have about talent vs. skill, and who is "allowed" to sing. Through my lessons with her I have increased my understanding of the mechanics of singing, and experienced several "break throughs", which were incredibly surprising and gratifying.
