About Art Gallery of Swift Current
AGSC has provided public access to visual art for southwest Saskatchewan since its opening on October 4, 1974. It originally opened as the Swift Current National Exhibition Centre, one of only three NEC’s in Saskatchewan. However, in 1994 funding for the SCNEC was discontinued. In 1996 the City of Swift Current supported a new strategic plan, and in 1997 the name was changed to Art Gallery of Swift Current to better reflect its association with the City and the community it served.
Core services always offered by the Gallery include a program of visual arts exhibitions and interpretation services, including guided tours, visiting artist talks, and related publications, media and materials. In 1995 an interest level studio education program was introduced, expanded in 1996 and significantly expanded again in 2018 with the addition of the AGSC Learning Centre – Located inside the Dickson Community Centre. Since 1996 the AGSC has directed efforts towards creating and implementing extracurricular arts activities to engage the public. With these efforts, AGSC became a catalyst for arts and culture development for Swift Current and Southwest Saskatchewan.

The staff (Joan) was very nice and guided me through a lot about the local paintings and the artists whom she knows personally. It would be perfect if there is description about each painting! Overall, worth going if you like art!
