Its pretty horrible that you will end up skipping an important subject due to the teachers laziness

Horrible Office and teachers never reply to texts calls or emails. They tell you course work is worth something but at the end of the course you have to write a teacher final that is worth all of your course work. Unbelievable.

Terribly unprofessional. If you need to contact the principal, good luck - he will never phone you back. Had to report them to Alberta Education. Courses are EXTREMELY outdated with texts and content from 20 years ago. They don't care about getting materials out to distance students either. If you want innovative, current and relevant school delivery for your child - go somewhere else.

The most unprofessional and worst school I have ever been to. The teachers at this school are lazy and don't care about their students being successful or whats best for them. Because of this school I skipped two grades of Math (A subject I have always struggled with and now it's even worse thanks to this school) all because they only wanted things to be easy for them. They tried putting me in K&E (A program you can't get into Post Secondary) all because of my learning disability and struggles. All they do is put students in a box and don't try to help them. This is without a doubt the most terrible and disgusting excuse of a school I have ever been to

I started going to this school because several of my friends, who had been going to this school for years, recommended it. I do my schoolwork from home and it was a little confusing, figuring out assignments and such, at first. But as I got a hand on things, I found that the amount of work was much smaller then some of the other schools I had gone to. So as long as you apply yourself, you can get the work done really quickly. There are also lots of options you can take. As for the teachers, I really like them for the most part. My biology and art teacher were awesome, answering my questions, inspiring me to do better in areas I lacked, and giving me reminders. There was one teacher that didn't seem to care about my learning at all and didn't answer some of my emails, but I don't really blame them. They had a lot of students to worry about and they still provided me with insight on what I could do better in. I know I don't speak for everyone, but if you plan on going to this school, you need to take the initiative in you learning. Some of the people I know that don't like this school aren't motivated, so they get behind and do worse. I even have that issue at times. The teachers already have so many more students to focus on because they do long distance schooling that, if you aren't persistent, they won't provide as much help to you. But from what I have heard from others and seen for myself, this school is really trying to improve itself and it provides really good courses. I still think they have things to work on, but they are way better then other schools I have gone to.

My kids have attended the Caraway program out of Argyll Centre for the past 4+ years. We love the focus on community and social-emotional skills. The teachers are incredible and the whole community comes together to support each child where they are at and help them foster their individual interests. It's a rare school within the public system that allows for amazing project-based learning and for parents to be hands-on and really get to know the other children and their families. We particularly love the fun units like potion shop and entrepreneurship where they get to create and run their own businesses!

Coming from homeschooling into public school, Caraway has been a great choice for us. It requires a bit of parent dedication to helping out in the class and in other ways, but that's a highlight for me. Teachers are committed to teaching with passion and modelling life well for the kids. I love that kids don't have to sit in desks all day and get to learn with engagement through projects, play, and real participation in their education. They're seen as individuals with varying strengths and needs. Would definitely recommend if you're looking for a healthy alternative to the "normal" school model and have some time to partner with your kids in their education.
