A great little trail. We did it on mountain bike. A few places were too packed with big rocks/boulders, so we just carried our bikes through those sections. Overall, a nice single track ride.

Beautiful short hike. The path is sandy, and a little rocky. The scenery was lovely. The self guiding trail map was very informational. I took my 5 year old son, and senior dog. We all had a blast.

We hiked this trail twice. The 2nd time we were delighted to find the printed map at the trail head and learn about all the fascinating geological features along the trail. My child enjoyed climbing all the boulders along the way.

Was a pretty easy hike on a well groomed trail. Took us about 30 minutes at a leisurely pace. A nice example of a southern Manitoba forest with lots of birch, poplar, pine, and fir trees. There are a couple of sections which could be challenging to someone who has mobility issues both uphill and downhill, but overall it is quite doable for most people. A great distraction if you want to take a break from the beach for a little while.

A nice loop with (by regional standards) large elevation gains that gives a nice panoramic view around the basin of Lake Agassiz. Numbered interpretive posts spot the trail, so be sure to pick up a brochure to learn about the geology of the region. Leashed pets are allowed, but be aware of the poison ivy. One star is lost due to the fact that it is easy to find yourself on the wrong trail as there are other trails in the region. The signage is somewhat lacking, especially if you do not have a map the trail.

I hiked the 2.1 km Ancient Beach Trail in Grand Beach on April 19, 2020. The trail is short and easy, with one uphill and one downhill section. It is a loop trail that leads through the peaceful forest. There is a large rock at the trailhead that I’m thinking was deposited there by glaciers long ago which is interesting. The trail was mostly dry with some wet areas, which were avoidable. It was not crowded and I only passed a few families and bikers. I enjoyed this hike!
