★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I’ve banked with Alterna since it was known at Metro Credit Union and I have had consistently excellent and friendly service. While slightly less convenient than the big banks, the products and rates are just as good and my money is going back into the community rather than some fatcat shareholders pocket.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Excellent experience. I recently opened an account at Alterna Savings. I felt the difference immediately the first time I entered the branch. It is very cozy and the staff are incredibly welcoming. I didn't always feel this way when I was at the banks. I actually enjoy banking now, because I feel valued. The staff at the Danforth branch are friendly, highly competent and always willing to go above and beyond. Something I appreciate is that they always answer the phone - this was unheard of while I was banking at the Big banks!
My only regret is taking so long to make the switch to a credit union - hands down one of the best decisions I've made!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Alterna is the worst bank I ever dealt with. You can’t trust to what they say in the branch or what they tell you over the phone. They are extremely unprofessional and their mistakes cost us thousands of dollars. I would never recommend this bank and that branch to anyone. They completely undermined our trust into union credits.
