Allyjan Family Law - Calgary

A. Paul Allyjan was born in Nottingham, England, and as a child immigrated to Grand Prairie, Alberta where he lived for a few years before moving to Calgary, Alberta.  Being placed in French Immersion Elementary and Junior High School, he still retains a conversational grasp of the French language.

Paul attended the University of Calgary, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in English with a Minor in History in 2000.  Paul then attended the University of Alberta, Faculty of Law, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Laws degree in 2003.  During his time at the University of Alberta, Paul regularly volunteered with Student Legal Assistance.  Paul then returned to Calgary to article with a multi-provincial law firm and was called to the Bar in 2004.  Since being called to the Bar, Paul has practiced in the Area of Family Law.

Paul has conducted trials successfully at both the Provincial Court of Alberta and the Court of Queen’s Bench of Alberta.  Paul has also successfully conducted appeals at both the Court of Queen’s Bench of Alberta and the Court of Appeal, additionally, Paul has been successfully at the Supreme Court of Canada on a written application.

Paul regularly volunteers with Calgary Legal Guidance, where he has received multiple awards for perfect attendance, distinguish service and the Volunteer of the Year award in 2013.  Additionally, Paul volunteers with Student Legal Assistance, both as a resource lawyer and as part of their mentorship program.  Paul has also presented for the Legal Education Society of Alberta in the area of Appeals in the Child Welfare Context.  Paul has served on the Legal Aid Regional Appeals Committee and now sits on the Legal Aid Super Committee.
