A.J. was quick to respond to our initial request for information. He was happy to come 1/2 hour outside the city to provide a quote. He was very knowledgeable, and was very happy to offer suggestions on what was required for a solid pad for my Quonset. He had hardener added to the concrete mix at no extra cost. The finish is acceptable and he did not try and add on any additional costs. Communication was clear, I had no hesitations paying my deposit. The job was done earlier than I expected, which was awesome. I would recommend A.J's Concrete and will defiantly use them again.

First time using AJ's concrete for a new driveway. From start to finish 100% satisfied. AJ is extremely knowledgeable about his trade and made sure we were happy with the finished result. Rob and the work crew were great guys and did a great job. I highly recommend them for any concrete work.

I used AJ's Concrete for a basement slab on a brand new 4 unit multi-family build. I was given a quote and the work proceeded shortly after. In the middle of the work being done, I was then told by AJ that unfortunately he has to charge $1600 more since they had to use more rocks/gravel than anticipated. I was of course unhappy about that as that is not my fault but paid him immediately for it. In all 4 suites, the concrete around the sump pits were not finished properly and have gravel and poly vapour barrier exposed and rocks keep falling out from under the foundation into the sump pit which is obviously not good for the foundation around it as well. If rocks keep falling out, it will create a void underneath and cause the concrete to sink. The concrete underneath the stairs were not finished properly / smoothly as well. I have used another company before and they were able to finish it very nicely underneath the stairs by lifting the stairs slightly and trowelling it by hand. I have asked AJ to come and fix the concrete around the sump pits. He asked to send pictures and then asked if I can wait until spring for him to repair them and I said sure. I texted him in the spring time and no answer to 4 messages. I texted again on May 4 and he responded asking what the issue is and to send pictures again. No responses to messages again after that. Fast forward to my final inspection that I had with the City of Winnipeg last week - all 4 sump pits failed the final inspection because the concrete did not completely enclose it and the concrete around the cleanout failed final inspection as well. The basement slab has to be completely sealed to prevent any radon from coming through. Looks like I will be spending my own time and money to do the necessary repairs. Thank you AJ for the "quality and pride" that you claim you always provide. All it would have taken to resolve this would be a few hours of your time and you would have then had a satisfied customer. UPDATE to owners response: The $1600 was not because you used my square footage. You came and measured it out and provided a quote. You then added onto the quote in the middle of the job. I gave you 2400 sq ft (600 sq ft per unit) and the true measurement was 2200 sq ft (550 sq ft. per unit). Do you want me to post a picture of your quote and a picture of my construction drawings to prove you are not telling the truth? There is nothing wrong with the sump pits themselves. What is wrong is the concrete work you did around the sump pits. You did not finish the concrete work around the sump pits properly. The gravel under the concrete slab (around the sump pit) is exposed, thus breaking the radon seal required by the City of Winnipeg. What failed was the final inspection after the concrete was poured - not before it was poured. You poured in November, I contacted you in January (2 months later), not a year later. It is now July...8 months after the pour. After sending you the initial pictures, you said you will fix it in the spring time. If there is nothing wrong in your eyes now, why would you agree to fix anything? Stop making excuses and take responsibility for this subpar job.

Let’s start at beginning. April 2nd, 2021 AJ gives us quote for sidewalk, driveway, patio(stamped), approach, back step. Also said basement window may need window well. Then called us daily to see if we had questions and if we would go with him. Unfortunately we finally said yes. Which he said thank you we appreciate your business. And we gave him deposit and quite believed in him to do quality work! Old concrete removed July 5th, went really good. Then patio and front sidewalk done it was coloured concrete and the patio was stamped. After that driveway and back step were poured couple days later things started to happen...... Front walkway had a hole with grass coming up inside it (picture attached)and patio has a basement window touching it. When AJ came on July 5th to do markings and measurements he said that window will not need window well. Hooray.......we thought but...the concrete slopes to window (which we talked about a lot as we’ve had problems before with water running to house) so water sits there for hours. I called AJ as soon as we seen these problems. We were quite happy he came right over. He said β€œI’ll have to go all the way to Lafarge β€œto get coloured concrete and patch walkway. Then talked about window well and he says let’s see what happens, what that means we don’t know. This was 7 weeks ago and still haven’t heard from him. Also sent him pictures of both these areas. Then driveway is poured......we have flaking, and where driveway meets walkway is very ruff. The driveway has sunk or sidewalk lifted because now we have an edge (tripping hazard) A wood frame was made for back step, nailed to house. When removed it left a indent in concrete, AJ said he has some patch stuff to fix that(which he did).......well now it looks horrible and have this stuff on the other concrete too. AJ said it would come off......well it doesn’t. Also they couldn’t get nails out of house stucco so they just cut heads off and left nails there. Also when the stress cuts were done the first red caulk marking was wrong so they did it again, well I have been trying to remove that red line for 6 weeks and can’t remove. So I have a new driveway with a red line down the whole thing. Would like to seal driveway and sidewalk but need things fixed first. The worse part of this whole thing is.......he doesn’t return your calls. I have phoned, texted, emailed and nothing. So I thought I should do like him and call daily (like he did to us in April) so now he has blocked my number. Now when I call goes right to voicemail that he doesn’t respond too. I’ve had two different people call him and he answered because he didn’t recognize the number......so how rude it that!!!!!! It took me awhile to write this review and I was just hoping he would call and address issues, I was still trying to believe in him! I don’t enjoy having to write this kinda review, but after 7 weeks something has to be done. His crew seemed very nice and worked well together. But......
