Like a brand new Photoshop file, Adam Reiland Photography began as a blank canvas. But step-by-step and layer-by-layer, his work, talents, and professional, collected attitude has built his company into a complex entity worthy of consideration. His advancement as a business is built from the successes of each previous project, which over time, has allowed him to work with some of Saskatchewan’s most desirable and prestigious organizations. As a photographer, his knowledge of the craft is exemplary. The work he produces are contemporary and beautiful. While Adam Reiland Photography was officially founded in 2017, Adam’s work as a photographer began almost 12 years ago. While studying for his Bachelor of Fine Arts at the University of Regina in Film and Video Production, his business quickly became a primary focus as his work in wedding photography and portraiture began spreading across Saskatchewan via word of mouth. Beginning with a single camera and lens, he worked his way from project-to-project to slowly amassing a professional photography setup. His convocation in 2011 allowed him to focus solely on his business. But the lessons learned while at the U of R were imperative to his success. He has been able to implement professional set etiquette, equipment knowledge, creative development processes, and professional connections and friendships, which combined, allow him to work as either the sole creative force on a photo shoot or in-tandem with commercial video productions.

Mid-way through the 2010s, Adam began to shift his focus from weddings to commercial photography. Leaning on his previous experiences of growing organically through word-of-mouth, he began to gain more clients and projects - using each one as an opportunity to grow his network of creative collaborators (set designers, props/art department, hair/makeup, wardrobe persons, photo assistants, etc.), and expand his arsenal of top-level professional equipment. What started as a single hand-held camera in his home has turned into an equipment room of cameras, lenses, light sources and modifiers, generators, booms, flags, and top of the line gear for tethered shooting, along with a professional photography studio with multiple set/background options. More importantly, he knows how to mix these physical assets with his creative skills to produce truly exceptional imagery in a stress-free environment for his clients.

Perhaps his biggest asset is knowing how to problem-solve in delicate or complex situations. This is where his technical skills truly allow him to shine. With the clock ticking on set or the natural light quickly disappearing, he knows how to work quickly and effectively. Additionally, he knows who to call upon to assist when things get complicated. Need a set built, dressed, talent hired and approved, photos captured and edited in order to hit your quickly-encroaching delivery deadline? No problem. Adam has the professional skills and producing prowess to overcome (almost) any logistical challenge.

When push comes to shove, he can also lean on the skills brought to the table from his wife, Raina Reiland. She, as a professional photographer, continues to bring her skills to Adam’s projects via her creative input, knowledge of the photography ecosystem and technical know-how. On shoots with Adam Reiland Photography, you’ll often find Raina as an integral part of production.
