Our Head Start name ‘Onahsiwin’ means to mentor and guide. The Selkirk Onashiwin Aboriginal Head Start Program provides bus transportation, nutritious snacks, crafts, exciting field trips and the opportunity to make lifelong friendships with the children.

Cultural events, social events, and parent workshops are made available to our families.

To empower them to bring forth their unique abilities and further develop as role models for their children and community. We will strive to provide an environment that is caring, friendly, educational, socially fun and culturally stimulating.

The Head Start Program is offered to Aboriginal children (First Nations, Metis, and Inuit) who are 3 and 4 years of age. Our program runs from September to June inclusive.

Our hours of operation are as follows:
Monday to Thursday: 9:00 am-10:45 am (3 year olds) | 12:30 pm-3:00 pm (4 year olds)

For more information call Kathy or Lisa at 482-6419 or email [email protected]. Applications can be picked up at the Head Start Program or The Selkirk Friendship Centre.
